Honestly, Aston-Reese is exactly what the Hawks need.

I think Tyler Madden was considered more than a B prospect with the season he was having, and that PIT trade is definitely not it chief. Out of all of these I would say I like the FLA trade the most, but I would find a way to get Borgstrom back along with Lindmark, because he's leaving for Finland and his value to them is dropping significantly since they botched his development.

to me, ZAR is just an older version of Kampf and Highmore. Doesnt do much scoring, but good defensively (50% CF with only a 30% OZs% are you kidding me thats kinda insane) but in this trade, we get only ZAR back while giving up Saad and retaining 50% on him at that and the only difference is a 4th rounder. So while we could try to trade for him in some capacity, that's insanely bad for us

at 50% retained Id want b prospect and late first, or b prospect, 2nd, and conditional mid rounder based on performance. Kaut or Bowers would be nice to get, not very interested in other trades.

Colorado are really high on Bowers and Kaut and they are both near NHL ready (definitely so in Kaut's case) so I don't think Sakic will move either of them for a rental. Sakic even spoke at the deadline about wanting players with term rather than rentals if he was moving significant assets.

What's more, a player like Killorn is reasonably comparable to Saad and has the perfect amount of term left (3 years expires when Mack is up for renewal), and he should only cost like a 2nd + 3rd to acquire. In a market like that it would be silly to go for Saad, unless he comes with an extension with low AAV and ideal term.

ZAR was simply one of the best defensive forwards in the game... Kampf is solid, but not that good, was Highmore even in the NHL last year?

Saad does not have that kind of value. He's a rental, and having to retain at TDL is usually a cost teams have to do to make the trade with cap tight teams.

The penguins made him change his game if you can believe it. He does have an offensive upside. But they had no room for him and didn't view him as having the skill set needed to be a "scoring" type winger.
I don't claim ZAR to be one of the best forwards in the league but I do admire his work ethic and how he was able to change his game to make his spot in the NHL. He's one of my favorite players to watch because of that. His final year at Northeastern. 31 goals in 38 games at the NCAA level......that's straight fire!
So don't knock his goal scoring he can net the puck. It's just not the game they wanted him to play in finding his role.

Florida and Pen ones are realistic because they've shown interest in saad and bring in some good players who have performed well and have good underlying analytics, but I can see what you mean its not very enticing but its the bulk options.

Colorado would be the tough one though to get them to part with Kaut but I could see them parting with Bowers.

Oilers is a bit of an underpayment but if benson develops into who they say he is then it would be a perfect fit for the hawks.

Best case scenario you could a late first and a developmental prospect or you can get bulk goods for Saad. It really depends on how the salary cap goes next season and how well saad has performed.
(also he has a M-NTC so who could decline a trade to those teams if its on his NTC list)

From Florida you get Dryden Hunt who is a big power forward in the top 10 for zone entries (which is better than most hawks) and Owen Lindmark who had a pretty good freshman season at Wisco putting up 6G 11A for a pretty bad Wisco team and was playing basically bottom 6 minutes, its not the most sexiest but its substance and development, with Florida too you could see Saad waive his M-NTC for a chance to reunite with Coach Q

Nice take thanks for the feedback

If I can pick from Benson, Kaut/Bowers, or Hunt and Lindmark i'm picking Benson or Kaut every time. The 2nd round pick is the most valuable piece in the florida trade

Yeah for sure they arent there yet I meant like what I see them developing into in 2 or 3 years, but trading Saad 50% retained for a purely defensive forward still isnt good value
