Rebuild or Reload
Sorry for not using forum but just want some feedback. Do the Hawks rebuild or reload this year? With everything going on do you trust the front office to make some deals for guys like Jones, Hamilton, maybe Landeskog. Or do you want them to start over, start fresh and rebuild. Now that the big money is gone it will be nice to see what the team can get to help out. LMK what you think, also the mock trade is just a quick idea.

He has an attitude very similar to Nylander's. He has skill but no work ethic and really doesn't show a want to get better. If he overcomes that he is definitely worth it.

Would it work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claebom</b></div><div>I don't think Seabrook would waive for Ottawa, and I don't think that's nearly enough to convince them to bite on that deal even if it's in exchange for Zaitsev's. Nikita Zaitsev's is bad but it's doable and something that could be handled or traded with a bit of management or retaining; he's probably only about $2M overpaid. Seabrook's is awful though in that he's like $4-5M overpaid, so there's no way to just handle that. Additionally, he still makes a lot of real money so there's no appealing structure for Melnyk. I think there's something that could maybe be done, but that's not enough for it.</div></div>
That's what I originally thought. If I were to revise it I would instead throw in someone like Beaduin and maybe some salary retention. For Melnyk the appeal could be bringing in someone who actually wants to play somewhere and maybe that brings with some good publicity for a team that definitely needs its, also Seabrook has winning experience and can teach that to the young core. Again a reach but thanks for the input

making cap room
The big problem is you need Johnson and Killorn to waive their NTC and that could be trouble considering they would want to go to a contender where they could maximize their output and that leaves trouble for the lightning.

Latest thoughts on next season
With regards to the expansion draft in 2021, who would then have slated as the person the Seattle Franchise would most likely take. I think it would be Murphy or Shaw but are there any players we should be worried about. Also nice job not spending all the cap space we have in case we need to trade for someone or just saving for future extensions.

Saad Trade 2021 Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>I'm much more interested in Benson than Ashton Reece or that crap from florida</div></div>
From Florida you get Dryden Hunt who is a big power forward in the top 10 for zone entries (which is better than most hawks) and Owen Lindmark who had a pretty good freshman season at Wisco putting up 6G 11A for a pretty bad Wisco team and was playing basically bottom 6 minutes, its not the most sexiest but its substance and development, with Florida too you could see Saad waive his M-NTC for a chance to reunite with Coach Q
Nice take thanks for the feedback

Saad Trade 2021 Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CFMan</b></div><div>at 50% retained Id want b prospect and late first, or b prospect, 2nd, and conditional mid rounder based on performance. Kaut or Bowers would be nice to get, not very interested in other trades.</div></div>
Best case scenario you could a late first and a developmental prospect or you can get bulk goods for Saad. It really depends on how the salary cap goes next season and how well saad has performed.
(also he has a M-NTC so who could decline a trade to those teams if its on his NTC list)

Saad Trade 2021 Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wadejos123</b></div><div>Not interested in the Pens and Florida ones. The oilers and avalache ones are interesting, but if we are retaining half something else has to be added</div></div>
Florida and Pen ones are realistic because they've shown interest in saad and bring in some good players who have performed well and have good underlying analytics, but I can see what you mean its not very enticing but its the bulk options.
Colorado would be the tough one though to get them to part with Kaut but I could see them parting with Bowers.
Oilers is a bit of an underpayment but if benson develops into who they say he is then it would be a perfect fit for the hawks.

Reportedly Strome's value isn't as high as you would expect. McCabe is a solid d man who can fill in until Beaudin is ready. Idk just trying to make sense of it all would really like to keep him if possible only way I see that happening is seabrook being bought out and a couple other players moving.

They believe prospect Ian Mitchell has a higher ceiling, right now it looks bad but if Mitchell can come in and do what he did and Nylander can produce consistently than maybe this trade works out in our favor.

Saad and Nylander are on the wrong sides.
Highmore I guess makes sense on a 4th line over Smith, but he's probably not the best forward call up. You have Sikura, Hagel and Entwhistle all who I think out of the forward group in Rockford have earned a call up. But bowman and JC are idiots so not surprised they screw up who earned the call up.</div></div>

deadline deals
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>In the last 5 games Gus has 3 goals. His value is increasing back to where it was despite a slow start to the season for him.
Caggs is worth more then a 5th. He's versatile and able to play up and down the lineup, that kind of player is worth a lot more then a 5th at the TDL. He's a better version of Hartman who got a 1st. Caggs is at least a 3rd.
Maatta or De Haan needs to go. The Hawks are too deep with defensive prospects next year and Holm, McCoshen both look really good in Rockford not to mention Gilbert, Mitchell, both being options next year. Koekko should also get traded, highly doubt we re-sign him.
With the bonuses this year, the Hawks are going to need to move pieces besides low cap hits like Gus and Caggs.</div></div>
I agree we could get more for Caggs for more but one question is his durability with his play style (has been in concussion protocol 3 times in the last 14 months). You could argue a 4th and maybe even a 3rd but for now I would say or 4th or 5th for caggs.
As for Gustafsson here is the problem. His offense is offset by his awful Defense. He makes awful plays and usually leads to goals against. In the past 4 games I can recall 3 goals he is responsible for and a ton of other chances he has given up. If a team trades for him then they'll need a partner for him to be defensively sound ie the Coyotes who have some nice defensive defenseman. I understand sometimes teams will pay a good amount for a player at the deadline to make a playoff push but Arizona won't be giving up a lot for him. I think this deal gives the Blackhawks a chance to grab a solid B prospect and pick for a guy who will leave this summer.
I agree with you Koekkoek and Maatta have got to go. A guy like Mitchell needs to be in the lineup next year. I think the defensive core goes:
Keith-Mitchell
De Haan-Seabrook
Murphy-Boqvist

Agreed. Makar has been playing out of his mind, however, Dach has been playing at or above expectations for most of his time in the NHL. Also a great kid listen to his interview on Spittin Chiclets if you haven't. Kid has a great attitude and a love for the game rivaled by the vets on the team.
