A goalie a Forward a 3C and some draft picks

Créé par: Jexus

Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Wild dont have to protect Jones so they get out of Zucs contract and free up the ability to protect someone else. Sharks get something useful out of the trade filling a pretty big hole in our forward corps.

Expansion Protection: Meier, Hertl, Couture, Zuccarello, Kane, Labanc and Dahlen. On Defense: Karlsson, Vlasic and Simek. Goalie: Grubauer

Draft: Lukas Reichel in 1st and Tyson Foerster in 2nd.

Wilson said Dahlen would be returning to NA when his season with Timra ends.

Handemark may or may not work out as 4C.

Grubauer has been solid so I see no reason for Colorado to trade at the moment.

That said, he's a pending UFA so depending on his (and Francouz's) playoff performance, and his next contract demands, I may be willing to consider moving him if we can get a younger comparable goalie locked in with some term. It would have to be a worthwhile upgrade though, as our current situation is pretty good, with Grubauer hitting UFA in 2021 at the ED and Annunen coming through soon.

If we did decide to move Grubauer I think he'd be a great fit for San Jose, given that he has a relatively low cap hit and manageable term for an aging team. In that case we may even retain a little bit to sweeten the return and make it easier for SJ to fit him in. BUT, the ask would likely be more than what's being offered here (something like SJ 2020 2nd).

Yea not moving that pick sorry. We'll just go after Greiss or Khudobin, keep our picks. We need prospects badly.

Khudobin is going to cost $$ and term though, and Greiss is a worse goalie.

If the aim is to try to squeeze out another playoff year from an aging core then acquiring the best goalie possible makes more sense. No point in half-measures.

Couture-31
Karlsson-30
Meier-23
Hertl-26
Kane-28
Burns-35

Certainly the core is not young but outside of Burns theyre not exactly old either. And Burns is still one of the more productive dmen in the league offensively. So “squeezing” another playoff year is possible for a few more seasons even without Grubauer.

I'd strongly suggest not going after Killorn if you're taking on Zuccarello's deal. I don't think we can afford it with all of the other moves made. If you go for one, you can't go for the other because you end up not having enough money for Khudobin/Greiss, a real backup (who isn't Korenar) and a full 23 man roster.

Doing some quick math, if you didn't take Killorn, paid Khudobin the 3.5 he deserves, Dell as a backup 1.25ish, and 2 players under 800k to fill out the healthy scratches, you'd have more cap room, a full roster and enough to pay players more realistic salaries.

It's a good A-GM, I just wanted to offer some possible changes.

Usually when i do an agm i do a bunch of potential trades that could happen individually or in other variations. Like a sketch pad/brain storm. Not necessarily do i mean to say all the trades proposed should happen all in the same offseason. Convoluted way of explaining it but caffeine has me jittery lol.

@RawZuccSauce420 the way i would approach Khudobin is either more term and lower salary (2.9x3) or more salary and less term (3.5x2) because i imagine hes going to want a bit of longevity at the age he is. I would approach Greiss the same way.

Yeah that's a good point. The longer the term, the cheaper he'll be for sure. Just not sure how I feel about signing him until he's 37.

Goalies tend to age a little better. Ryan Miller and Craig Anderson are both still effective at 39. Rinne is still solid. Id expect Khudobin to be getting less starts after next season taking a reduced role. It give Melnichuk and Korenar time to develop and if not sign another ufa goalie in 2021 when Rask, Allen and Grubauer are UFA. Who knows, maybe Jones can reclaim his game but i wont hold my breath for that.
