I thought this would be a fun project with CF community involvement. Neither thelineup nor numbered list necessarily represent a depth chart, just the overall top UFAs. So please, share your thoughts about where these top UFAs will land this offseason and I will continue to update this description. I will make estimated guests on some of these, looking at teams that some of these players I think fit best with. I will include my top pick as well 2 other runner-up/dark horse candidate teams per player. Please feel free to include players that are not in the lineup, such as Dustin Byfuglien, Carl Söderberg, etc.
As a quick note on the UFA list, as is becoming a trend in the UFA market, the talent dips quite heavily after the first dozen, especially at the center position. Anyway let's get started.
(1) Alex Pietroangelo: resigns with St. Louis Blues - other candidates: Colorado, Winnipeg
(2) Taylor Hall: signs with Calgary Flames - other candidates: Montreal, Columbus
(3) Torey Krug: resigns with Boston Bruins - other candidates: Vegas, Chicago
(4) Mike Hoffman: signs with Dallas Stars - other candidates: Edmonton, Nashville
(5) Chris Tanev: signs with Toronto Maple Leafs - other candidates: Colorado, Winnipeg
(6) Evgeni Dadonov - resigns with Florida Panthers - other candidates: Arizona, Washington
(7) Tyson Barrie: signs with Vegas Golden Knights - other candidates: Dallas, New Jersey
(8) Braden Holtby: signs with New Jersey Devils - other candidates: Washington, Vancouver
(9) Jacob Markstrom: resigns with Vancouver Canucks - other candidates: New Jersey, Carolina
(10) Tyler Toffoli: signs with Edmonton Oilers - other candidates: Vancouver, Carolina
(11) Carl Soderberg: signs with Edmonton Oilers - other candidates: San Jose, Florida
Tanev should be resign with Vancouver IMO
Barrie to VGK doubt they have the capspace for that + they already have Theodore Schmidt Martinez McNabb
Holtby probably CGY CAR
Toffoli should be Vancouver Edmonton Carolina
Toffoli and Hoffman seem unlikely for oilers hard to see how oilers can hand any term out with Nuge yam Larsson needing extensions few others but those notable ones leaves me thinking free agency ain’t a thing for this team

If VAN can't ship out some bad contracts then I only see them signing one of Markstrom, Tanev or Toffoli. They don't have the cap space for even two of them.

If they trade a 2020 1st + Eriksson they'll have the cap space to sign 2 of them. Trade Stetcher + Benn and you'll be good I think
Cannot see Toffoli signing with EDM, his wife is from California and works for the Dodgers. Toffoli probably re-signs with VAN or signs with a California team.

You're right, it seems unlikely. I'm hoping Holland can make space for a 3C though - someone like Soderberg would be a great fit.
Barrie wants 6x6 noway Vegas can afford him, And saying that Chicago and Vegas are candidates for Krug is laughable no way he'd sign with either of those teams.
St Louis, Vegas, Toronto and Edmonton don't have the cap space to sign a big-name UFA.
Boston will have about $9.5M I cap space, but that's not counting Chara or Krug. If they sign those two they won't have much left over for any additions.
Vancouver has $12M in cap space with Markstrom, Toffoli and Tanev unsigned, but are only 1 year away from Pettersson and Hughes and Demko needing new contracts. They can bring Markstrom back, but there's not a lot of wiggle room there.
Florida and New Jersey probably don't have the cash. New Jersey's Blackwood is better than Holtby anyhow, so that won't happen.
Dallas and Calgary appear to be the only teams on your prediction list that can afford any big-name additions.
It'll be a very interesting November 1st due to the flat cap.
After the season he had combined with a flat cap and a pile of financial pressure on the teams, who's going to give him that? He's a 3rd pairing PP specialist.
What I'm wondering is who are the teams with cap space this offseason whenever it is?
Seems like there's going to be more free agents then teams with space to sign them and I don't expect there'll be many dump trades.

I think if holland signs AA it’s going to be very hard to find money for a 3c. I hope AA proves me wrong but I feel like he’s a gamble can’t really afford.

Even Dallas and Calgary don't have that much really though after they sign their RFA'S, a backup goalie and fill their holes on defense neither team will have much cap space to make a major UFA addition, idk maybe they both manage to dump some salary off on another team somehow but minus that it's tough to see how either team can afford a major addition.
Idk, maybe I'm missing something but they both look pretty up against it to me.

"If" he signs AA? There's less than 0.00% chance Holland doesn't sign AA.
And that deal was a good one and potentially a steal. Mid- to late-2nds aren't worth what most on this board think they are.

Calgary will have about $11M with Brodie, Hamonic, Stone, Gustafsson and Talbot all UFA's. Lots of holes to fill.
Dallas will have about $10M with Perry, Sekera, Polak, Janmark and Khudobin all unsigned. They can walk from a bunch of those guys and replace them with other UFA's but next year will be Heiskanen's last on his ELC.
These teams are tight too, but at least they have some options. Certainly not "7 years x $10M UFA signing" space, of course.

Dallas has Faksa, Hintz and Gurianov to sign this summer plus they need a backup

I see Montreal has a lot of cap space with Domi as their only significant RFA to sign, will be interesting to see if Bergevin actually does something with it or wastes another season.

Thanks for the input. Clearly, with a flat cap, lots of teams will have to manuevre this offseason to fill out their rosters and sign/resign players. I expect this to be a plenty fun, but also perhaps, heartbreaking offseason for fans. I particularly like your Toffoli to Carolina suggestion, so I updated my other candidates to reflect your input.
Thank you. It was meant to be a work in progress, but because new AGMs are created so frequently on here, it falls off the main page, never to be seen again :P

I thought about it, but I cannot see him resigning with LA, and the Sharks are without a clear direction at the moment until they figure themselves out, but they are really the only mildly competitive team in California, at least for the moment. I cannot see him signing in Anaheim, they are working their way through some long and painful retooling.

I think that a lot of teams, with a flat cap, will need to move a whole lot of stuff around, making deals and signing players, in order to try and improve. Your suggestion seems more like a wishlist request then an estimated prediction re Soderberg, but regardless, I will update my list to reflect your suggestion. Thanks.

Just because Barrie may want 6x6 doesn't mean he's going to get it. So does he sit out the start of the season until some team is so desperate to sign him? I honestly don't think. I think he ends up with 4 year deal over $5.25 million. As for Krug, I don't understand the comment. Why would Krug not want to sign with a rebounding and getting-younger Chicago team, or a Vegas team that seems to keep finding a way to win? If you have any other Krug suggestions, I am open to listening.

To your last point, I think most teams will have to maneuver like they never have before in order to get creative, since I think really everyone thought the cap was going to go up by at least $3 million this offseason. One non-cap altering CBO per team would certainly help things, but expect a lot of trades this offseason, or at least, I hope that's the case.
