mangiapane > strome in value

there's a limit of 3 buyouts, so neither Hank or Staal can be bought out.

No from Calgary, Mangiapane is better than Strome. Strome despite the numbers he put up had a significantly worse GAR than Mangiapane this year

Why buyout Staal and Lundy? Wait one more year, let Kakko and Chytil develop and then hit the 2021 offseason with more money to spend. You get an extra 2.5 mil which could be the difference good and great players. That's what I'd do.

Blues accept if they want to get rid of Bozak contract. Former top 10 OA pick for 1 year of aging Bozak

Yeah I've got no problem with this trade. Andersson would be playing in the AHL anyway and has more short term potential than anyone we would draft at second or third if that pick was bumped up, which is key for having cheap good players ready to step in when the cap makes us lose other guys in the short term future

Nail Yakupov is a former 1st overall pick, we don't want him, either. Bozak is worlds beyond Andersson as a player, and it's entirely false to consider him a pure cap dump. He's only a candidate to be traded because of a need for space, not because he's not a valuable piece of the team. Bozak is still a good player, he's just overpaid by $1-1.5M for one more year. We'd happily keep him if it weren't for Petro's situation. He puts up 15 goals, 35 points, plays in all situations, is good on the forecheck and is strong on draws in both zones.

Andersson basically has no value right now. Not only are his attitude and commitment obviously in question, but frankly he just doesn't skate well enough to play in the NHL.

i dont think the blues will get any more than a 3rd for bozak, and realistically a 4th (and here, the OTT 4th is high). Here you are pretty much getting Andersson for free. You might not want him, but free value is free value.

All of the things you say about Bozak are true, but it's also true that the cap probably isn't rising and that he's got a ten team no trade protection. If NYR aren't on it, and they probably aren't, this is as good of a trade as any. We're not getting a third or second round pick for him.

Also we literally did want Nail Yakupov enough to trade for him once, so I wouldn't rule out another buy-low trade again.

The Strome trade is pretty good. Not really the rest though. Also Brodie is pretty trash without Gio.

My point was that calling someone a former top 10 OA pick doesn't automatically mean they've turned out to be a good NHL player.

I think this would be a great trade. Andersson seems to want out and the Blues could use more prospect depth, especially at center. He’s gonna have more upside than pretty much anyone we draft with a mid round pick. I’ve been a huge proponent of this deal in the past and will continue to be in the future.

Bozak is good, but not 5 mil good. I would take that trade in a heartbeat. Andersson still has potential to row and develop into a decent bottom 6 guy. Change of scenery could do him good

I already said Bozak is $1-1.5M overpaid.

Andersson is garbage, and not just because his skating is weak. He has no trade value at this time.

Sure but by the same token, just because a 21 year old kid isn't all the way there yet doesn't mean that he's "garbage". You seem to have put a lot of weight on him being angry with how the Rangers have handled him and leaving the team. While, yeah, obviously that's not a great look but it's also not like he's the only player who has criticized how the Rangers have treated their players in the last two or three years.

Colorado acquired two formerly highly touted wayward prospects last offseason in Burakovsky and Nichuskin and they got high value from those guys. Just because it hasn't worked on one team (or just because the prospect doesn't live up to their pedigree from where they were picked) doesn't mean that you can't make something out of them.

Actually, I put more weight on his meh skating and his sample size of NHL play. Burakovsky had some history of good play. Nichuskin is a good example, but then again he's huge (Andersson is smallish) and skates like an angry bull (Andersson certainly doesn't). I'd prefer to focus on developing Alexandrov, who is a bit like the player Andersson would be if, ya know, he skated well. Our system requires good skating from everyone.
