You can keep bjugstad, and for that remove the condition on the pick. Murray and a 2021 1st for saad is a no brainer for the hawks

That first line would be pretty nasty, but I think the trade could be Tweaked to benefit both teams better.

      Counter Offer

      Pittsburgh Penguins
      Brandon Saad (50%) retained

      Chicago Blackhawks
      Murray
2021 first round pick (top ten protected)
2022 2nd round pick conditional on Saad signing an extension?

Seems more fitting. Saad comes home to Pittsburgh while Matt Murray goes to Chicago to be a younger starting goaltender over Corey Crawford who most likely will be out of Chicago. This could only happen if Askarov isn’t selected by the Blackhawks in the draft. If not, Murray is still an upgrade over the aging Corey Crawford.

lol pens fans are delusional. Barclay Goodrow got a 1st round pick, BlakeColeman got a 1st and a B level prospect. Hartman a few years ago got the hawks a 1st, 5th, and a prospect. Saad is far better than all those guys. Saad has a lot more value than you think

Says the hawks fan lol. You’re delusional if you think pens would trade Murray for a guy who gets 40-50 points now. If you knew anything, you’d know that Tampa overpaid for those guys because
#1- they lacked physicality in the playoffs last year
#2- they have such a low cap hit
#3- they’re signed beyond next season
#4- it was at deadline and teams overpay then

Saad is a nice piece but we’re not trading our 2X Stanley cup goalie for a UFA forward on a 6 million dollar contract who hasn’t been good since Columbus.

31 goals the one year and 50+ points both years. Those are good stats. But Like I said, I’d gladly have saad on pit but not at the expense of Murray.

      Jake-Crosby-Saad
      Zucker-Malkin-Rust

I think it would be fair to say that we could get at the very least a first for saad at next deadline. Assuming this deal is done in the offseason, you get Saad for the entire year, at half of his cost, for a first round pick and one of your excess (Who would also be your backup) goalies.

I think it’s a price the pens would be willing to pay, and a price the hawks would give up Saad for.

Murray was awful last year. If you don't trade him somewhere you lose him to seattle. Don't care that he won 2 cups, so did saad. So did crawford who had a .917 save % behind an awful defence last year compared to murrays .898. Also, if you ever watched saad you would know he's a top 10 defensive forward in the league. Combine that with 50 points a year and thats a whole lot more value than the struggling matt murray, I'mcompletly against trading saad at all and i'm against trading for murray. theres no reason to do that when we can keep crow short term who is better anyways and can sign a UFA or trade for someone down the road who is a lot better than murray anyways. Saad is too important to chicago to trow him away unless we decide to do a full rebuild, in which case draft picks would be more important coming back anyways. Trading saad in his prime for a struggling goalie is the last thing the hawks should be doing

Trade values are always less in the offseason because come deadline teams are desperate. Look at how many gross overpays there have been at the deadline. Saad at deadline like you said may be worth a first. But he’s not getting you Murray + a first that’s ridiculous. Murray is not our “backup”.

I would trade a first for Saad retained. But not Murray

agreed, but I don't want murray. If we trade saad it's at the TDL for a 1st and a B prospect, or better yet don't trade him at all

Top 10 best Defensive forwards in the league? That’s funny lol. Sure Murray had a bad year this season. No denying that. So why do we sell low on him? Would be a huge mistake when just last season he rocked a very solid .919 save percentage. We’ve all seen what Matt Murray is capable off in the playoffs. Pens will not trade low for him unless he absolutely chokes against MTL which I doubt

teams have reportetly already offered us a 1st for saad many times and the hawks always decline

Well that’s a fair offer for him. Hawks are trying to save face because they mistakenly traded Panarin for him.

How are you going to protect murray and jarry from seattle?

Like @pharrow has said in other posts. Pens will probably have a deal in place with Seattle where they take Jarry and hornqvist well before the expansion draft. That lets Pittsburgh hold Jarry throughout the 20/21 season and guarantees Seattle a young starter.
