I'm a huge, huge fan of Danault but we must trade him while his value is high and while his stats are inflated due to the Tatar-Danault-Gally line. KK can't play 3rd line minutes forever and we still have Domi and Suzuki as capable top 6 centres

I could be wrong but didn’t KK get sent down to the AHL last year? I get your idea but that center position looks awfully inexperienced. Might want to add an Erik Haula in the Off-season with this plan

KK can play wing so we can switch him and Domi if it doesn't work out. With proper linemates and powerplay time he will do good

Would you guys do that same deal with 1 of our firsts, preferably the worse one?

Danault is one of the most underrated players in the NHL but I still can’t see the Sabres giving up the 7th overall pick for him, especially when they’ll likely only have him on the second line. I honestly think Montreal should keep/extend him when it’s time

I like this idea a lot for both teams. I think Buffalo would decline and come back with a 2021 first. Maybe top ten protected

It would preferably be a top 10 pick

If you compare it to the Stepan trade, it actually makes sense. Danault is even better than Stepan was actually

Our better one will most likely be right outside, around 12-13, besides you guys could use some prospects, and we have some to spare

Tbf 2017 was a far weaker class than 2020 but Danault is also far better than Stepan was so...

I thought you might bring that up.

The biggest difference there is that Arizona was also getting Raanta in that trade, who was arguably the best backup in the league at that time. And while New York also got DeAngelo, I don’t think his value/potential then was as high then as we see it now.

Whoever will be available at 7 this year (Holtz, Perfetti, Sanderson, Rossi, etc.) is likely to be much better than Lias Andersson or whoever the Rangers could’ve taken at 7 in 2017.

I don’t think it’s totally implausible; again, Danault is much better than he gets credit for, but a top 10 pick in a loaded draft seems like a lot

I get what you mean, but my point was that trading Danault is what's best as long as it's for a pick between 7-15, no matter the team.
