Just messing around with you. Pretty sure a Leafs fan is gonna know their own players.

yep I even remember the dark ages. Even when the leafs made the trade for kessel I knew those 2 firsts would come back to bite us and they did. This team could have had hamilton and seguin. But no we got kessel and yeah traded him to the penguins and were still paying for it. Than again the trade thats gonna haunt the leafs forever is the Rask trade

Ekblad would be Toronto's best D on the right side just like Nylander would be the best right winger that Florida has. Morgan Reilly is better than Ekblad and a case can be made for Muzzin too.

ekblad would be an amazing fit for rielly or muzzin. Either D-pair would be top 5 in the league

Huberdeau/Barkov/Nylander would also be a top 5 line in the league.

U don’t got a clue if u think barkov is better then nylander and Tavares

Barkov is one the top 5 two way centers in the league Tavares isn’t and last year Leafs were wanting Dubas head because Nylander was garbage just because he was have a good year doesn’t mean anything just like Marner was everything last year and now many complain that he was paid too much.

Cap circumvention as its finest. Honestly, why on earth would NHL allow this? CBOs are given to teams in a pickle with cap space, not for teams to abuse the bad situation some of the other teams are in... NHL will never allow using CBO to players that haven't played a single game in your team.

In the past the BOB-scenario above occurred w/ WSH & COL = Orpik to COL (buyout conducted) then back to WSH (resigned for less $$). Frankly, I don't share your view. It should be a reward in fact to the teams (COL) that have managed the Cap well and are thus being rewarded (picks-prospects etc).

As opposed to the other NHL teams "Drunken-Spending GM's" where the CBO is a huge gift (VAN for example can likely CBO 4 to 6 guys not just Loui E). Those GMs learn nothing. Butkas. They just realize they are the "bankers of 2008"; be greedy, be too big too fail and get bailed out!! And note here - this TML post is still only at a 22-man-roster - typical of numerous Leaf posts IMO due to Cap in-coherence...

If anything, teams in COL (or BOS or CAR's...) predicament of solid cap management - should get an additional 'CBO/Amnesty' as a lesson to the others to smarten up!!

They were salty about the Orpik deal as well. The major difference between that and the CBO is that the Orpik buyout counted against the cap.

If there's going to be, what, 30-60 (depending on how many buyouts are allowed) bought out contracts, mostly the biggest ones, it will shatter the contract stability as we know it. NHL would allow using CBOs as a manner to survive the unforeseen circumstances, not as a flashback button to remove some bad decisions from the past. That's literally not how anything works.

Either NHL or NHLPA will prevent this from happening. What's the point for players to sign big contracts they mostly deserve from the start that just get removed from the books in any way necessary as soon as possible? There's gotta be some major limitations to this, otherwise the teams just abuse the current situations. Buying out contracts such as Bobrovsky in a way that doesn't effect the cap helps them money-wise more than lifting the cap to $88M bucks, which is not the point of this buyout. The point of this is to help the teams in a pickle to survive.

laugh laugh If Florida deals both Barkov and Ekblad and Bobrovsky, It's because Ownership is shedding salary not taking more on. No way in hell Tavares waives his NMC for Florida. Stop proposing this insane deal both Toronto and Florida say no.

Really??? U must know, ya got insight around league??? Cuz rumours I read he’s on block and it would make sense they don’t have money to resign him in 2 years and why would he resign with a **** team that don’t spend to the cap they would get most value trading him now! I thinks it is the perfect time to trade him but that’s just too much common sense for u

The reporter who started that rumor isn’t credible so yeah. I love your hate for the Panthers it’s funny but if it makes you feel significant then by all means keep it coming. No money? The owners have done more for their employees and the community during this crisis than any Canadien team owner need to check your facts really makes you look ignorant.

Depends on the contract. I think he's happy enough in Florida, but if their owner pulls a Melnyk and declines to pay what is due, then he's out. But now is not time to move him cheap. In trade value he's probably in TOP10 of the league, Elite player both ways with no clear weaknesses.

Matthews and tavares are the logical to stay as its hard to find talented centers like them. Marner can pp, pk, skate like a rocket so he probs stays, nylander seems like the choice. Sure he is a goal scorer and can pp really well. But if this team wants to improve the defense he may be the one to go. After all his contract is the easiest to move out and more teams will be willing to trade for him. If not than the 2nd option would be marner but its gonna be harder to do so

Yeah it likely is Nylander, personally I just don't think moving him will free up enough cap space to make a substantial difference elsewhere in the lineup, time will tell I guess.
