I personally have a tough time seeing Sorokin want to sign there. Varlmaov has a cap hit of 5 million. 5 million! For the next 4 years. Did the Isles plan to have a backup goalie cost 5 million per season. Pretty expensive right. Why not get a kid. Yes a 22 year old 4th overall pick who has killed it over seas this season. Puljujarvi can crack the lineup for the Isles and could provide with a cheap contract for 1-2 years until he outperforms that. Not saying it will happen just saying why would Sorokin want to play on a team where they have a goalie signed long term at 5 million.

Don't like Athanasiou but, honestly, Buffalo probably accepts except it would have to be a different 2nd piece. Nothing against Benning but Buffalo doesn't need more RDs. Maybe a 3rd round pick instead.

That could work, or they could flip Benning for a bottom 9 forward or even a draft pick. But I do think AA performs for the Sabre’s. Put him on Eichels LW and see what happens. If not make him a 2nd line center. BUF needs pieces and he fills that void.

I don't know what to think about the Sorokin situation. Islanders signed Varlmaov because he is buddies with Sorokin and they figured it would help Sorokin transition to NA. Somewhere along the line though I suspect Varlmaov maybe mentioned to Sorokin that he didn't want him taking his job. That's where I think the Sorokin wanting a clear path to the #1 job rumor came from. So I think Islanders will trade one of them but if its Sorokin Oilers will need to come up with more assets.

Tough situation. I think Sorokin will want a team to himself where he can be #1. The Oilers would be perfect for him. Two superstars with a bright future. I mean why wouldn’t he want that. If it comes down to JP not being enough. One of their goalie prospects would entice NYI.

Your Trades are terrible.

Russell is a cap dump, you wont get any team to take him without a price.
As I have been told with John Moore, you wont get a 4th or 5th, much less both, for a bottom guy with that cap. make that a 6th or 7th, not both.
Try Kassian and a 3rd for Svech
Future #1 Goalie for a Failed prospect, lol come on. Jesse and a 2nd for Ilya
and the Buffalo trade, JESUS. Maybe if you add an Edmonton First.
THIS IS BAD

I love comments by people like you. Not going to waste my time explaining. Just read what’s been said. It’s one 7th. What’re you talking about 😂😂. As you’ve been told 😂😂. What’re you already a GM. Cmon man. We both know you haven’t been told anything. John Moore. What’re you talking about. He was not mentioned and not the type of player Russel is. How can you be a failed prospect at 22? Mantha was called a bust at 22 and look at him now. You sir are quite confused. All I ask in the meantime is for you to read more about hockey.

Edmonton isn't trading one of the league's top 5v5 goal scorers for a 23-year-old AHLer who has just 18 goals and 48 points in his last 108 AHL games.

You definitely lost me @ YAK!!
* That bust can't even do cross-overs for s h * t sakes.

Too many changes for the most part and as many have pointed out they aren't "Win-Win" or "Realistic"
* You've conveniently dumped some of your current headaches for a boat load of others (garbage in - garbage out)...

Jesse may 'tear' it up in his home country where he's comfy, speaks fluently etc.; that ain't no NHL and it ain't no Big Apple (or "Kookas Omena")!

It’s a confusing trade. The Wings are rebuilding, which means a lot of younger players. DET best enforcer now is Mantha and ironically he’s their best player. So they don’t want him in the box really ever. However, bringing in Kassian with Term would alleviate the pressure off of Mantha. Svechnilov going back the other way is somewhat of a low risk high reward. He could benefit with this and maybe even playing with 97. Also DET is taking Kassians expensive contract to free up space.

5 million for the next 3* years. They signed varlamov to be a mentor to sorokin and help him transition to NA. Varlamov will be traded or taken by Seattle in the expansion draft.

You know where puljujarvi didn't kill it? In the NHL. He's worth a second round pick at best. No chance isles trade sorokin, his KHL agent already said he's signing with the isles.

That's some wild speculation there - Islanders will trade a goaltender next summer, it won't be sorokin though. It literally makes 0 sense to trade a 25 year old potential franchise goaltender.

The “clear path to the #1 job” from Friedman was pure speculation. It’s no different than Friedman saying he thinks barzal would like to play in a more offensive minded system. He says things to get clicks and a reaction.

Bringing Svechnikov in is a zero reward result for Edmonton. If he can't even produce 0.50 P/GP in the AHL as a 22 and 23 year old, there now way he's getting a roster spot on a playoff team let alone getting ice time on their top line. That's just ludicrous.
