I wouldnt match that, Sandin will be playing on the #3 LD next year forcing him to his off hand. Hes not strong enough to be Rielly's partner 20 minutes a night and I wouldnt separate Holl and Muzzin

Why wouldn't we match it. We would match it and flip it for something better because he is worth more than a second and third. He still has potential. Doesn't make sense to not match what we need

He is not worth that contract though, sure you can bank on other teams saving you but that is a pure over payment. He shouldn't get more than 2.5M

I would love to keep dermott for next year only issue is our left side is locked. Sure he can play RD but hes not really that good on his off side. If sandin was not good i would say send him down sign dermott look for 2 more rd, etc but sadly that is not the case and dermott probably gets traded for a real top 4 rd or something like that

Ducks could spend 3.6m better on a UFA and keep their second rounder. It's for the that reason the Leafs wouldn't match. Get the second and spend the Dermot money on another player.
