Équipe: 2019-20 Maple Leafs de Toronto
Date de création initiale: 7 févr. 2020
Publié: 7 févr. 2020

Description
Only if Leafs resign Muzzin

Could something be made to work around this? Leafs have to add imo but I was not sure which complimentary pieces would appease Hawks fans.

Thats an overpay by the Leafs. Nylander isn't that good. Simplify the trade and base it off of one of Kappy, Mango, Kerfy, or Dermott (adding depending on what piece they chose).
LGBstl a aimé ceci.

the Leafs would not be the ones adding. Blackhawks would need to add a couple significant pieces or take on someone like Ceci

Kapanen is better than Nylander
and
Dermott is better than Murphy

Just curious about what you guys are basing your opinions of Murphy on? I have not seen him play much, but from what I have heard or seen from his numbers he seems like a definite upgrade

That was my original thought, but I figured that Kappy best suited the Hawks needs, but the Leafs are also pretty thin on RW too, so I expanded on it a bit with Nylander coming in as a replacement

Since when are the Leafs thin at RW?
And you still overpaid. Dermott + Bracco should get you Murphy at 850k retention, maybe add a pick swap.

That's a fair opinion, but why do you think that is what I'm asking. Why do you not think he is enough of an upgrade?

I mean after Kapanen, who do they really have other than fringe NHL'ers?

Hyman can slide over to his strong side, Engval can play off side as well. Mikheyev was a RW in Russia.
And this whole "after Kapanen thing you are talking about our 4th line you know that right? Maybe 3rd line in the event of a trade. When you have Mitch and Willy in front, there isn't an issue.

It would actually be 3rd line if Kapanen was to get traded, which is the scenario here. And if you slide any of those guys over who takes their place? Mikheyev is also probably out until after the playoffs start so he's not really an option

Do the Hawks really need or want yet another LHD? Doubt it, I'm sure they'd to have Kapenen but I really can't see them moving Murphy and to be honest Murphy shouldn't move the needle on aquiring Kapenen

We don't want to trade Murphy even if we were to fall out of the playoff race. However, Kapanen is a good starting point for a trade in the offseason if we decide that Boqvist, Mitchell, Seabrook look like our RD in the future. We are also not trading Nylander, and even if we did he would be a centerpiece not a throw-in of some random deal.

For anyone saying Connor Murphy is like Ceci in any capacity then laugh

They might. With Keith aging and the fact that they'll probably lose Gustafsson in FA, a young NHL proven dman wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Also, what is it about Murphy that everybody else is seeing that I'm not? Whenever Kapanen is brought up as a suggested asset in a trade for a rhd, people seem to dismiss him as a middle 6 forward, not worth enough. Is Murphy really such a drop off from these other guys that Kapanen is an overpay? From all I've seen about him, he seems to be a pretty solid shut down guy who has decent term on his deal.

I was being "Leafs negative". So much depends on getting solid goaltending. And as much hatred and Ceci got....the Leafs still have the inconsistent Barrie and Holl at RHD. and now it looks like Liljegren is thrown into the playoff race fire.

Of course it depends, but if they find themselves back in the thick of things then why not try to upgrade. This would help solidify the right side, taking Liljegren out of the fire, and give them a guy with term.
