Good observation #1. However, I tend to think is more asset protection. TOR 110% has a strong offense. Playing a trade chip against this offense is more likely not end well than up his value. No?

Leafs are not trading roster player for backup. Also there never was a roster player traded for this type of goalie.

Why are the Ducks moving down in the draft to open up cap space for you?

Devils advocate, if the Leafs got an NHL body from the Rangers, for the point of this lets say B Lemiuex or Fast, does that make it more palatable for the Leafs bc they aren't creating a roster hole in the fwd group and solving a goalie issue

Yeah that deal I questioned after I did it. Change the pick to prospect. And they would move Ceci at TDL for snother pick.

To me that is the only thing that makes sense for the Leafs. They are still trying to make a deep playoff run. and Fast could be a quick rental filler for the Kapanen spot.
Fast is a 3rd liner, probably fetching a 3rd at the most as a rental. It wont be a big additional value for the leafs to get him in the deal IMO

kap for Georgiev is Probably fair value but doesn’t make sense for leafs Georgiev isn’t a backup caliber goalie he’s a starter for a good amount of teams and only 23. going for a stalock for wild makes way more sense no? Cheaper

They are not selling but he doesnt fit there at all so they might explore some trade options.

I don't see the Leafs being a match for Georgiev unless the market for him is very weak. There's gotta be other teams that intend to use him as a starter next year that would pay more, but I guess that depends on how long they think Freddy might be down for.

I'd be fine with the trade proposal above, especially if the leafs can turn around and trade him in the off-season and re-coup something back and/or get him on a reasonable 2yr extension to see where they are once Freddy's deal is up.
