If anything Toronto isn’t paying enough. It’s for the best player in the world. He’s on a ****ty team and producing. Imagine what he’d be like with a guy like Marner

He plays with Draisaitl. And no one is worth that much. The problem with trading McDavid is the fair price is more than anyone would be willing to pay, so Edmonton would never receive a fair offer and would never go looking for one. The only time McDavid will ever get traded is if he demands it and if that is the case it'll be when he has his NMC in place, at which time, the return in that scenario would be drastically lower than he deserves. If McDavid ever gets traded, it will gut the entire fanbase.

This price above is ridiculous. It hurts TO more than it helps them.

I agree that the Leafs would never do this, but the idea of McDavid with Marner is so tantalizing.

Imagine those two together on Team Canada

What is Drai up to now in points in the last 10 games without McDavid?

He's playing very good. I am impressed. Still a lot of points come on the PP but he's over a point a game in general. Although playing the majority of your games against the West and Pacific makes things a little easier. All but 3 teams in the west would currently be in a playoff spot in the east. That is startling.

I think the Oilers have a really good record against the east and also top NHL teams, they have a bad record against bottom place team for some reason, Drai is on a major heater right now, Nuge/Drai/Yama are playing against 2nd lines and tearing them apart.

I still don't see them as being a contender but I'll be cheering for them regardless. I'd love to see TO against another Canadian team in the final.

Draisaitl has scored 11 points at 5v5 over the past 11 games, none of that with McDavid. Only 3 players in the league have more points in their past 11 than Draisaitl does at 5v5. Of course, his 22 total points (and 2.00 P/GP) since December 30 is the best in the league:

http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?reportType=game&dateFrom=2019-12-30&dateTo=2020-02-03&gameType=2&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=points,goals,assists&page=0&pageSize=50

Of course he scores a lot on the PP - he's a member of the best PP the league has seen in 2 generations. The last team to post a better PP conversion rate was the 1978-79 Islanders. In any case ALL OTHER TOP SCORERS post points on the PP, so this shouldn't be construed as a negative for Leon.

Until 3 games ago, I still was saying Oilers are not going to make the playoffs, i am starting to believe they might now. They still need a left winger to play with McDavid though. I would love just any Canadian team win the cup, its been so long.

Its going to be right down to the wire. I think Vegas will right themselves and take the division and I think Vancouver is a better team than Edmonton right now. But beyond that, its anyones guess.

If you would have said Yamaoto instead of Nuge, it would have been closer. Yama has been a beast on forecheck and board battles.
