It would take the removal of your current GM, who is moving this team in no particular direction and status quo clearly isn't cutting it. Hire Ray Shero, then talk to the Coyotes. Clayton Keller + for Sam Reinhart would probably do it. You might even be able to do that as a 1-for-1 swap. First though, this team needs to address their hockey ops and fire some key decision making people.

Keller has very similar numbers to Reinhart the last couple years. Keller at 7.1 at probably almost exactly what reinhart gets. Is Keller playing center? Would the sabres be expecting Kellers offense to go up on Jack's wing, or is he carrying a second line? I feel like the main reason the sabres do this is to change the voice in the room, otherwise you are just filling one hole by creating a different one. I suspect the Arizona would keep their more dynamic player without an add, and the add wouldn't make sense for buffalo.

Keller is a better play driver. Hes also playing with weaker linemates and has a very low shooting percentage. Reinhart at ~17% will 100% regress. I would argue that keller is a better player right now even if the points arent there, the contract stability and cost is a huge plus and hea also around 3 years younger. I dont really know what you are looking at that makes you think reinhart is better
