Quality > quantity dumba is very good and Minnesota has no reason to move him thus making it an overpayment to get him and I don’t even think Nylander alone is enough to get him let alone this awful package lol

Even if Dumba was available, I don't see why TOR would want to add another guy that does the same things as Rielly and Barrie. There are only 2 PP units and a limited amount of offensive draws. TOR would be better off adding a guy that can sit back and defend when the other guys are flying around the ice IMO.

I don't think you get to choose what it costs. And I don't see Minnesota biting on the spare parts package.

If you want a star, you have to trade a star. Which is exactly why Toronto should not be targeting top tier RHD's because it will cost them too much.

Even though he's having an off season, it's hard to imagine that the Wild are willing to sell low on him. If the Leafs were to make a play for Dumba, I think it would take Johnsson, Dermott and a 1st to get the conversation rolling.

Guys, a Matt Dumba race to the Leafs starts with Marner.

That is 100% not true. I actually don't even think it would take Nylander to get him. You make a deal off what you are getting from a player. A player who has good and even great seasons in the past certainly helps the sell, but if the Wild really are to sell Dumba off, it's this year's body of work at the forefront, and he's been pretty mediocre, all things considered. So, while I am not sure the Wild would ever sell low on such an important player, if they did, the starting point would never be Marner, not ever.

Nylander has higher value on the trade market than Marner. The Leafs would never deal him. As good as Marner is, you have to remember he's on a pretty ridiculous contract and that's going to deflate his value. Teams aren't going to trade Jones, Parayko, Manson, Pesce or Dumba for him.

No he isn't, your hot takes on Marner is too much my friend. Marner has the best PPG totals on the Leafs team. He's a 90+ point player under contract for 6 years, his contract is fine. Others will get paid more and they'll be lesser players. Wait 3 years you are going to see a tonne of massive contracts.

All those 3 year bridge deals look great now, but you are correct come resign time they all blow past Marner is AAV or take a 1 yr QO and walk to FA

Meier's contract comes with a built in 10 million dollar QO in 4 years, what a fantastic joke that is. Many people are saying that Tkachuk is going to get a long term deal around 8 million but has a QO of 9 in 3 years I believe, no chance these guys are going to just take a break because fans want them too. They are all going to get massive deals.

You are correct on Mier and Tchuck - both would also have ARB rights and could basically sign a 1 yr and head to FA, not sure how Points is structured but I would have to assume similar to Tchuck

Point has a QO of 9 million in 3 years. His team will have to offer a lot more than that on a long term deal to get him to sign, or he can just QO himself to FA. McAvoy has a QO of 7.3 million, Werenksy is at 7. Surprisingly Laine is only at 7.5, same with Boeser. I just can't get over Meier though, 60 point winger and he's going to get 10 million in 4 years and can just take his QO and walk to FA. Yeah the Leafs are really bad for not having to deal with those future nightmares.

Wow, should be a nightmare offseason in 2022 for pretty much every other team in the league

I think its going to be hilarious! 70-80 point players getting 12 million on long term deals is going to feel so good to watch. Calgary will have both Tkachuk and Guadreau up for new deals at the same time. Have fun Flames fans.
