Honestly at this point, I feel Jankowski was the primary target for the Penguins at 3C. He's got talent but hasn't been able to generate offence at NHL level. Plus he's slow and soft. Not really sure if he'll work out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Better is a very hard way to put it.
Kane has had a bigger impact on the game, as a much more dynamic player. In other words, his style of play did more to the game by influencing the younger generation in my opinion. From a pure talent perspective, Kane all day long. If I had to put the puck on the stick of a player today down a goal and 2 minutes left, I'd put in Kane's stick all day long.</div></div>
That’s true. As the most talented finesse player of all time, Kane helped change the game from being based on grit and physicality to now being based primarily on speed and skill.

Evgeni Malkin vs Patrick Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I'm a hawks fan. So I want to qualify that first and up front. While I like Kaner more...Malkin's done more to date. It's close. I think that by the time both decided to retire that Kane will be higher than Malkin though. While their games do have differences...there are also similarities.
Differences - Center/Wing is the 1st that comes to mind, but also Malkin plays a more powerful game where Kane's is finesse game. We can even see the ramiifications taking place over the past few years let alone how that affect will be going forward...Malkin's been getting hurt more and more recently. Kane has missed literally 1 game in the last 5 years.
Similarities - Neither player is asked to play any defense. They're both pure offensive minded players. Believe it or not...Kane's played almost twice as much PK time in the past 3 years than Malkin. I didn't think it was possible to play less PK time than Kane, but Malkin found a way.
All in all...I don't see Kane retiring any time soon and thus he'll keep piling up the stats, but I could see Malkin deciding maybe he'd go to Russia or maybe he'd just retire because he can't stay healthy. For two purely offesnive minded players it'll be about stats and Kane will ultimately have more when it's all said and done. Just one man's opinion.</div></div>
Yeah I agree. Neither of them play defence, which is fine given how much offence they generate. I definitely think Kane will have a longer career. Malkin’s plays like a power forward, he likes to hit & make contact. Given the wear & tear of his style, I think he’s only got a few years left.

Kane has scored 389 goals and 1022 points in 973 career regular-season games (1.05 Points per game). In the playoffs, he has 52 goals and 132 points in 136 games (0.97 PPG).
Malkin has scored 416 goals and 1076 points in 907 career regular-season games (1.19 Points per game). In the playoffs, he has 169 points in 166 games (1.02 points per game).
Both players have won the Calder, Art Ross, Hart, Lindsey and Conn Smythe trophies. They both have 3 cups with their respective teams. Yeah but most of his points were empty net goals or secondary assists. He just wasn’t contributing at the same level as the 2 previous seasons. Kept losing the puck, whiffing on shots or passes & tripping over his own feet. He was more of a liability.

Yeah it’s basically the same team but at least they have enough space to resign Andersen in 2021.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Carolina's Aho and Marner contracts came up at the same time. For the two previous years they had identical stats. Aho signed for 8.45m X 5 years, Marner 10.693 for 6 years. Based on Aho contract if the Marner had signed a comparable contract for six years, 9m would have been appropriate. I'll never understand why the Leafs handed out "hometown premium contracts to their big three, 4.5m too much.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>Hometown premium is such a good way to put it. I get tavares because he was a UFA, and leafs offered less than isles, but in Marners case, he’s from TO, was drafted by TO, you’d think he’d take a more fair contract to play in Toronto. Usually you see hometown discounts but this was the exact opposite of that</div></div>
TBH, Marner and his camp did not take advantage of what could’ve been a really good situation. If he settled for 9 million dollars, he would’ve been loved by all the fans & considered a hometown hero. But since he squeezed the GM for every last penny, he put himself in a really toxic environment in which the fans make him the scapegoat & there is a lot more unnecessary pressure. You can tell that he’s lost all his confidence by watching him play, he’s extremely disengaged & makes lots of mental mistakes.

<a href="/users/mhockey91" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@mhockey91</a> Honestly, this team looks solid on paper. Elite offence, the top 4 defence is statistically very good. If Marner bounces back to his 2018/19 form, I think they could be the best possession driving team in the NHL.

From what I heard, it seemed Brassard had an issue with Sully cuz he wasn’t willing to give him more ice time. He actually played decently in NYI. Also, Dan Kingerski wrote an article in 2018 talking about how Brassard & Sheary put up really good analytics during their time together.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CheechYou</b></div><div>Why must poor Jumbo be left out to dry and and lose on another cup run?!?
And I'd take some issue putting Jumbo on team grit instead of skill. He's the greatest passer of all-time in my (biased) opinion, and that takes skill as objectively one of the all-time greats in that category, statistically speaking.
I think what you're saying is that it takes a blend of skill and grit, usually skill on the top lines with gritty bottom lines, and even those gritty bottom lines need skill but I think what you're trying to say is that they need to be skilled AND heavy in the bottom lines.</div></div>
Yeah I was debating whether or not Joe should be on team skill. He definitely has enough talent, arguably more than half the guys on there. However, he’s also a huge guy who racks up a ton of penalty minutes, is a beast on the forecheck and really good defensively. So I felt I should put him on Team Grit to give them more weapons.
