It’s a fair trade for sure they get early picks in the draft, a top 6 forward that scores goals in kapanen which is what they need and hyman is a good depth piece that can play top 6 minutes and produce points wise and physicality wise sometimes

Ceci is not bad, leafs nation just loses their crap for no reason whenever he touches the puck, his name gets mentioned or anything else possible with him, he’s an above average defender but a extremely below average offensive guy that’s y leafs fans hate him so much but guess what, if u look at the stats possible in the world Ceci is actually the leafs best defender

As a sabres fan, i think you are overpaying. By a lot. We need forwards, something around kapanen works, probably send hyman too for salary, but i dont think the picks are needed.

I assure you there are reasons for everyone to lose their mind on Cody Ceci. Both the analytics community and those who rely solely on the tape would have reasons to hate his play. If you cherrypick your advanced stats you can prove almost anyone is great, As an example, Martin Marincin was always seen as a beast at denying zone entries and then you can watch him fumble a grenade over and over like it's episode 2 of Band of Brothers...

Ristolainen is not worth this much. Not even close, keep the assets cause you can do better with Kap than this.

You started off well there and then took a nose dive. Ceci isn't terrible. He was used wrong by Babs but he's not terrible. What he is, is a above average depth defender. Put him on the bottom pair and give him 2 million a year and he's incredibly valuable. Pay him 4.5 and make him your top PK guy and shutdown pair and he's going to look bad. Saying he's their best defender would be similar to saying Goat has been the best centre. Its just not even close.

That has to about the worse trade (Risto) in this calendar year posted on CapFriendly this year. . In effect Risto replaces Holl and the Leafs have to surrender two good forwards and two great picks.

Crazy overpay for Ristolainen, remove two of the four pieces going to Buffalo then maybe it's fair, don't see why Toronto would want or need Ristolainen though.
