Can't say you're not trying to be fair. It's tricky. If Anaheim were to trade Gibson and get that in return, that would be really solid and value-wise it's definitely there. Even if you dropped that 1st to a 2nd and 4th. But then Anaheim could go the next 8 years trying to find themselves another Gibson-like goalie and never find one like him. If I were Anaheim I wouldn't trade Gibson unless I have someone like Thatcher Demko or Ilya Samsonov in my back pocket.

He's a top 3 goalie (if not top 2), on a very, very reasonable contract.

My ask would include Svech, a 1st, and Suzuki, but if I'm Carolina I wouldn't do that either.

McGinn means nothing to the Ducks, and they're actually pretty deep when it comes to LHD's, so, although I love Jake Bean, it doesn't make a ton of sense to take him.

Don't think there's any way for the Ducks to trade away Gibby and break even or better on him, so I don't see it ever happening anyway.

Agreed.

When you look at the Ducks w/ Josh Manson, they were a playoff team. Without, they're showing how thin they are on the right side of the back end. Given their future cap space, it makes way more sense to try and hold the fort this year, where they can still potentially challenge for a wild card spot, and then spend some dollars this summer to upgrade their D.

That's fair. They have a good prospect pool too but it is forward-heavy. Steel, Comtois, Lundestrom, Tracey, Jones, Groulx. Trading Montour was weird, I don't know why they did that. After this trade, One or two of Bean, Guhle, Mahura or Larsson could be moved for one or two RHD. Even Suzuki could be moved again for an RHD. TVR could come in the trade as well in place of one of the non-McGinn pieces.

In my honest opinion, the only reason why the Ducks have been as good as they are, in this year, and in past years, is because of John Gibson. Sure, at times, they've needed some offense from Perry, Getzlaf, etc. to get by, by Gibson is an A+ all world goalie on a great contract. The only reason he gets moved is if the Ducks go into a full on rebuild.

This. When you have 2 of the 3 signature pieces need to turning a franchise around you don’t trade one of those to fill the other unless you have something decent to fill that void. You need a top D, Lindholm, and good goalie, Gibson, and a top line C, still looking, to become competitive. Now if Gibson got a top C in return they’d have to think about it, although the ducks probly hope Zegras becomes that top line C. Just creating to big of a hole for a couple of futures that should be solid players but doesn’t accelerate a “retool”/rebuild. Plus Gibson is just too good and on a pretty good contract shall he stay healthy to move.

You could at least spell Teravainen correctly...there is no way we’d trade him for Gebsun.

Agreed, and a full on rebuild isn't really something that they need to do.

They're realistically missing 1-2 pieces on the back end, and have the cap space this year (via trade), or in the offseason to fill those spots.

Already a good solid prospect base, with many of the kids getting NHL minutes.
