Predictions for Sharks Players

Description
I’m going to be predicting G, A, PTS, etc for players on the sharks, I will be putting in my opinion on them and it will only be for basically guaranteed sharks players. So for example I will not do Suomela or M Karlsson or prospects as there is still uncertainty for the sharks opening night based off competition in the pipes and a trade which is needed but not known if it’ll happen soon. So anyone that isn’t almost certain to player the year or could be traded I will not be doing.

Starting off with my biggest regret, Meier. Someone I wasn’t super keen when we drafted him. Being Canadian I really wanted barzal. Now barzal is amazing. And after his 85pts debut I really wasn’t loving our draft. Not knocking Meier but when you see a guy debut like that and Meier is still finding his way it’s hard you know? I still had belief Meier would get into his stride especially being a different style of player. And although 66 PTS may not seem crazy to other people Meier this year looked like he made it. He’s made it and I honestly am glad we picked him, Over barzal. Meier at point was in the top of the league in goals at the start and he played absolutely fantastic in the playoffs/ high pressure. Some people may say he could have been feeding off Pavelski someone he played a lot with but man Meier has found his place. This year I unbiasedly see him crushing it.

    G-39
    A-40
    PTS-79

Meier plays with his finesse and strength at his forefront. He’s got speed, a shot, size and great IQ. But when I think of Meier I see his finesse and strength on the puck first. I see his dangles and his moves but also him “bullying” opponents, whether he has the puck or grinding in the corners. Holding his own.

Following in talking about strength, Hertl. The kid we love. I mean not many players have personality like hertl or show it like he does. I mean he wears his heart on his sleeve. Like watching him celly after the sharks win center ice after game 7 and hyping everyone up from his team to the fans to basically just having fun. This kid would have already had a year like this past one if he hadn’t got his knee destroyed by tho who shall not be named. Hertl is a premium player and I think gets forgotten about a lot. 74 PTS in 77 games and although being our 2C basically was our best player for most of the year if not, my choice for our best. And my choice for our MVP this coming season.

      G-42
      A-47
      PTS-89

I know I’m crazy. Hertl has almost a PPG this past season and now I predict him at above a PPG whether he plays 82 games or less. But I can’t see him under 80 PTS this year if I’m wrong with my current prediction. Unless god forbid he has an injury. This kid loves hockey and shows up in the playoffs. I see him leading this team.

I typed out 2 paragraphs twice that got deleted by CF crashing so fuck me im not typing about Kane again, I feel bad for him for how he struggled due partly himself but mainly due to what happened off ice with him. Think he can fit in a more consistent year this year.

        G- 36
        A- 28
        PTS- 64
        4.

HOT TAKE ALERT, I see labanc achieving his goal, grasping the top minutes he wants and mainly putting in quality minutes. Loved the kid since we drafted him and only got better. I see him getting acclimated nicely with Kane and Hertl on line 2 after around 10 games.

          G-33
          A-39
          PTS-72
          5.

I see Sörensen staying on par with his last year. Nothing crazy.

            PTS-31

            SJS
I mean he’s not “on the team” but he is almost guaranteed too. Anyone that says “but why isn’t he signed yet than” it’s because he and Doug have to almost 100% agreed on estimates based off potential moves. It’s just a waiting game that I see going to the last minute if needed.

GP-LoAD ManAGEmEnT; hopefully 70> if our youth is playing well then def see it being possible
              G-11

Similar to Thornton, hoping the rest of the team does well using load management could work but once again that depends on the team, and depends on if Karlsson even allows that to happen, the guys effort and dedication he gives is sometimes too much but you gotta respect it. I see Karlsson proving people wrong this year on his play. One of the best in the game.

                  GP-73
                  G-18
                  A-64
PTS-82 (hot/probably not take I know) but it gets better
Norris: winner. (Yes that’s incredibly hot for a take but a fun prediction)

I see the sharks asking Burns to shot for a goal(rather than tips majority as pavs our main guy is gone) more this year and as usual burns shows up
                    10.

I love the Hertl prediction, he's definitely the most dominant forward on our team, but I think the MVP this year is gonna be Couture. I just feel like his first year as the captain is gonna be something special.

Agreed on Couture doing special this year but whether it’s dumb to say this our not I see him defensively thriving, hopefully a few selke votes in considerations if so. Like 65-80 PTS (I see 70 being a good benchmark that’s why I chose it), but defensively he’s really picks up the team and offensively jolts them by helping in both ends, I see him really cleaning up after himself and putting this team together when there’s some off nights

Last year we had 4 so it’s not crazy. And 3 of them are returning sharks and 1 of them is not. And 2 others I just predicted to improve, and Labanc playing with Kane and hertl (2 other 60+ pt guys)

Let alone three of them at 35+? But with 111 assists coming from two defensemen, someone has to deflect those point shots in.

Burns Karlsson backend at times together for PP and Meier - Cooch - Hertl likely being a PP line with labanc on backend (with burns or Karlsson if they matched together) or rotated in PP would likely be a big bump

Last year we had 4 so it’s not crazy. And 3 of them are returning sharks and 1 of them is not. And 2 others I just predicted to improve, being Burns scoring more when last year he was “snake bitten” at times but coulda hit 20, and Labanc playing with Kane and hertl (2 other 60+ pt guys)

Its kind of crazy yes. Pavelski lost will affect the line up more than you think. Last time a team ad 5 30 goal scorer was red wing in 92-93. The era with goalie not playing all Butterfly. So it will be almost impossible.

Let alone three of them at 35+? But with 111 assists coming from two defensemen, someone has to deflect those point shots in.

Not a impossible thing but its very unlikely to happen. Maybe some will get 27-28 but i mean scoring as increased a lot last year in first few month because of goaltending new equipment but after Christmas thing had settled down. Team add adjust.

Also no salary cap, yet, and the Wings's salaries were twice those of several other teams. (edit: I've got my years mixed up. That year the Wings were near the top of league payrolls, at 11.7M (with the Penguins earning 15.2. By 2000 there was a lot more variation, at a time when there was a bit of national television, a lot of local cable, and no salary cap. http://www.sportsbusinesssims.com/nhl-team-payrolls.htm)

What the Sharks have in common with those Wings is depth at right defense, and an ageless top center. What they don't quite have is a second power play unit that's better than most teams' first power play groups. Should still be a fun team to watch, with a speedy attack, and a lot of high scoring games.

They where less team two. In the 70’s having 5 30 goal scorer was not that rare. But now with 31 team the talent is spread way more.

Barzal has 4 less points but look at his line mates and look at Meier’s. How does picking the worse player mean you have a high IQ.

Meier joined the first line in like January. Before that he was moving around from 3rd to 2nd to eventually 1st line. His TOI was only like 15-16 mins too last year, so a full year with those line mates will get him a whole lot more than a 4 point lead over Barzal.

still Barzy had linemates like Komarav and Kunhackle at points this year. Also a struggling Eberle. Barzal also plays a 2 way game, we should be seeing more years like his rookie year in the future. Meier is a good player no doubt about that but Barzal is a better player

Maybe he will be, but on the Sharks Meier is a much better fit, since both of them would be playing on the wing on San Jose. Meier's insane possession metrics and goal scoring ability is just more valuable to the Sharks than what Barzal would bring as a winger.
