Not a chance Canes make this deal. It's not so much about who is better, at least currently, it is more about value. Both Svechnikov and Pesce are beloved teammates, and Pesce, specifically, who has been there a lot longer. Now, while Laine is currently the best offensive player in this deal, Svechnikov is not far beyond and some, including myself, would make the argument that he will eventually surpass Laine with overall game, even if he is not as pure a goal scorer as Laine currently is. That is why, like I said, the Canes would not make this deal.
At this point, it would probably be best for everyone, at least Laine and the Jets, if they could work out a bridge deal, which I believe is on the table. Let Laine try to up his value, since currently, his value sits at the lowest it's probably ever been since he was a draft prospect.
