Description
Making room to sign McAvoy or at least bridge, and fair return? EJ gives Boston a solid right D and waives the NTC to play with Backes who I believe is an old buddy from what I can recall, and can replace Chara in effect once he hangs up his skates. The first would be expected to be a late one. Lose a RFA they probably can't sign and a UFA next season. No I haven't bothered with Boston's lines, only roster numbers. Spare slots are for McAvoy and the two on IR once they return. Yes the trade probably favours the Avs, but Boston are somewhat behind the eight ball.

Fair enough. The idea was to show both sides of the trade.

he has no idea what the bruins actually are as a team. just trying to make his team younger and better. should do research before trying these kinds of deals out.

Yeah - Not sure bringing on 6m in Johnson salary helps them. They have lost space in this scenario.

The Bruins have options in Miller & Moore as well, if they need additional space - neither or both would hurt the team that much.

This is a horrible deal for the Bruins. The Bruins would rather have Carlo @ 7 x 4.5m than Johnson at 4 x 6m & you want Charlie Coyle who was their best playoff player?

Nope.

Not only that you didn't even give them the pick in the deep draft. They Bruins would laugh and offer you Nordstrom for Landeskog & the rights to Raantanan.

Actually I did. I was thinking the Bruins might not be able to sign both Carlo & McAvoy, but fair enough if you don't think the trade is fair.

Fair enough. Not sure Coyle has that much value as a UFA and worth less than Kreider though.

That's fine, but why would they take back 6m in Johnson if the whole purpose was to clear space?

There is Patrice Bergeron, then the untouchables and then, " not the untouchables but it would take the return of the year " to part with them.

Coyle and Carlo fit there.

Since Riley Nash left the team, Bruins tried like 5 players and it didn't worked. Then, we get Coyle who was a big player in the playoffs for us, versatile, can play on almost any situation and be C/W. Bonus: One more year on his contract at excellent $.

And McAvoy-Carlo-Clifton is the best RD side we've had for years. All young and each can play well in the d-zone & o-zone despite their respective style.

And you think we're gonna trade him for freakin erik johnson who's got 4 years at $6M and will be good for what, 2,5 years? And a first that will probably be in 19-27 range? tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy

Not sure I agree with you. Minnesota has been a mess for a while and Coyle just showed he can play in a tough market on the biggest stage. He might not currently have more value than Kreider, but he will before the end of this year. Also - Coyle has a higher Career high of 56pts than Kreider's 53, so the potential is there

I would answer that with a single season though. Kreider is the more consistent, vis a vis Kreider has more value. But yes, Coyle could show better this year, I would agree there.

Because how dare you even try to be polite on here! Next time when someone disagrees with you, you tell them they don't know anything about hockey and that they're stooopid.... lol

But in all seriousness, the ideology behind this trade seems more nefarious than fair minded. That 1st is looking to be mid 20's pick with the way Colorado is trending upwards and Johnson is on the wrong side 30. Being friends with a teams least wanted player isn't something Boston fans are going to be jumping all around for. Even aside from that, EJ is signed till he's 36 and is already looking worse for wear.

Carlo is like 20 years old and pretty much as good as Johnson is right now. Coyle may not be resigned but if Boston wants to recoup their assets for him, trading him after a stellar playoff run will yield more than what they paid for him. Which was pretty decent to begin with.

Just like all GM's, he'll have his due one day and everyone will be waiting to tell you about it.

Plus not that he's been bad at all but other than the one obvious trade of Duchene, he hasn't had any steals.

All depends on the size of McAvoy's contract, but the offer is obviously not of the correct value from opinions on here. I based it on a lot of people saying McAvoy would probably get up to the 7 mil mark, and at 5 mil (comparable to Girard money) it would be a struggle to sign both unless they move someone (which is why I chose Coyle), looking at the roster on here, but my bad it's obviously not good enough.
