The kid is very good. I think it will depend on how big his contract ends up being. The better contract the more he is worth.

I would consider him a top-10 Norris finalist. In addition, considering his young age and stats, I would say a fair deal would be something like Evan Bouchard, RNH and a 2019 1st round draft pick, which I am assuming is top-10. Bouchard would immediately replace his void spot on defense, they'd replace Duchene with RNH, who I am assume would not resign and the 1st could well be Dylan Cozens. I picked the Oilers because they are in something of a limbo at the moment and could use the benefit of a young all-star D.

Bouchard has the same upside as Werenski. Adding RNH and a 1st is crazy!

        Montreal:
2019 1st rounder or 2020 1st rounder top 10 protected (High draft pick)
Ryan Poehling or Nick Suzuki (High prospect)
Byron or Shaw (Depth player to offset a bit of cap going the other way)

        For

        Werenski (New contract 7M*7/8 years)

        Werenski is a stud.

Value wise from COL I would give up 2019 COL 1st, Jost, Bowers, + roster player

maybe even add more depending on which roster player CBJ would want in return

What about OTT 1st and Bowers and take a bad contract?

Upside, potential, whatever you want to call it. It really means nothing. Bouchard has done nothing in the NHL while Werenski has put together a heck of 3 full NHL seasons.

Means nothing eh? Well jack Hughes has done nothing in the NHL so I guess that means everyone playing is currently more valuable than he is.

At the moment, his value is his draft slot, because he really has done nothing in the NHL. So what is a #1 pick worth? That's the value. There's no way you are getting out of this Bouchard for Werenski nonsense.

Please point to where I said a straight up trade is worth it...
