Well, if what I've learned from being on here talking about contracts is correct: It will be 2 million more than he is worth at half the term he is worth it, and you're stupid for saying it should be any other way.

So 5@10 seems to be the ballpark answer here.

Gee you are really putting pressure on all these ACGMs. Who can tell with these crazy RFA scenarios. 9.20m X 6.

Making some wild guesses:

- $5,75M x 3 if a bridge deal.

- $8,5M x 5 to make it similar what Stamkos has left.

- $9M x 8 to sign him long term. I doubt Point won't be paid the most in the entire team.

Why? Like Tampa won’t match a 9.5 million offersheet. They easily can do it. They’re honestly not as tied in the cap market as some people think. Ship out Miller/Gourde and Callahan and they’ll have a ton of space. Cernak can replace Stralman, Sergachev can play on the opposite site too if necessary. Foote will be ready, and they have a wealth of prospects to replace Miller or Gourde. I’m saying this to prove that Point will stay because A, Tampa is the best team on the planet by a mile, B, they have the cap space to match almost any offersheet, and C, honestly if it gets too high, take the 4 first rounders and shoot for Panarin. My prediction — 6/7x9-9.5

I have said on a few of these ACGM that Point will not get more then Kucherov in my opinion. Kucherov sets the bar for the Lightning and he should. I know Point is a C and Matthews got his huge contract but if Point wants to play in Tampa he will have to work with the team some due to their salary structure.

So I say anywhere in a range from 6-8yrs at 8.5-9.5M

Honestly they’ll have to worry abt an offer sheet from a team like Colorado, jersey, Carolina, etc. I doubt he gets locked up for less than 6m, even on a bridge deal. Could see 2yr*6m or 3*7, I would say 5yr*45 would be abt right as well

Why does Callahan waive his NMC? He wants to win and that's the best place to do it. TBL certainly does have a wealth of prospects, but there's ZERO chance an offer sheet happens. GM's aren't that stupid now that Garth Snow and Chia are gone... They see the tight situation TBL's in. MAYBE you can move other players...with large cap hits...that don't have a NMC, but this TBL team next year can barely fit under a $90M cap let alone an $83M cap. TBL will be in the same position as TOR was with Nylander, BUT the difference is that TBL doesn't have the cap space. That's why NO other team will offer sheet. TBL's in a position were they're FORCED to sell something. Whenever you're forced to do something...(Stan Bowman...Bickell/Tuevo for scraps...Sharp/Stephen John for Daley) You get FAR FAR less in return.

I agree. Though Callahan’s NMC is a 16 team list. It could turn into a deal where Tampa deals him to a team in exchange that the other team buys him out and Callahan sign a low 1 million or so deal with the Lightning. A Steve Mason type trade. Or maybe just send him to a team on his trade list. The Lightning will be tight, and teams will want Tampa to pay for moving Callahan, but with Gourde/Miller.... those guys have value. They’re solid top six players and trust me, if one of them goes, Tampa will get a slightly below fair/fair price. Teams don’t bail at the opportunity to grab a young top six forward with term on his contract. They’re rarely available except for a king’s ransom. Schenn was going to cost a 1st, a solid prospect, and another pick/roster player. Imagine what Miller or Gourde are worth with far more term. They won’t get a killing, but it certainly won’t be scraps. Especially when teams like Buffalo, Carolina, etc. are looking for scoring boosts. Offer sheets don’t happen to elite players. I agree with you there. You’ll pay less in a trade than in an offer sheet. But I think that Tampa is set for next year. They’ll take a few losses, but they’re deep in young players and they’ll be a President’s trophy candidate again next year.
