No, 2nd pair about 20min. He plays 18 now. I would have no problems with 24min but I’m not sure if he’s ready for top pair and powerplay.

I think that is way too much of an overpay from the leafs. Zaitsev, Johnsson and a 1st for Petriangelo is the most the leafs should be considering IMO. For Nylander, Johnsson and a 1st I would hope for a bigger return with a winger (Sanford / Kyrou) and later round draft picks coming back.

Where's Oz? I'd rather pay Oz 1/3 of what you're willing to pay McQauid to be bottom RHD. If Liljgren doesn't go to StL. in the trade he'll be close to 6-8 Dmen next year. So why add McQauid for 3 years when it'll keep Lily as a Marlie for life?

not a good trade or contract. way to much and long term for an ok defenseman, to much to pay for the right side and kappy wont make that much. that trade is god awful, 5 years of a great forward, johnsson and a 1st round pick for one year of petrangelo is hot garbage. you are throwing away an amazing player, a very good depth player and a 1st round pick, liljegren will be able to play next year, sandin could be called up and a minor trade for a RD would be much better. you could get a decent rental and still keep all the things you gave up

Leafs need either Dermott or Rosen to take over for Gardiner next year. If neither of them can, then one of the core forwards has to get moved to stay under the cap.

I’m pretty confident that dermott can play 2nd pair, just like he is right now in jake’s absence.

Obviously there isn't cap for this team....a 21 man roster. But that's way too much to trade for a one year rental. I'm all for trading Nylander for cap space to acquire a Dman but better value can be had in a trade especially if want to include Johnson and the first.
Dermot has been a NHLer for 14 months. He looks solid and along with Ozzie, an NHL rookie, growth for those two.

Trading Nylander (in the summer after his signing bonus) with Johnsson and a 1st pick should get you closer to Parayko, just add one of Liljgren, Sandin or Rasanen and a mid Round pick and ask for a bottom 6 forward like Sanford, Fabbri or Blaise. Trade for McQauid at this year's TDL for a rental purpose only.
