For those who don't know Dave Pagnotta, he was the first on the Karlsson sweeps and many others. Seems to be a viable source of info.

    gross. Will take Thomas + picks for a solid puck moving D man, scoring at a .5 point per game avg n with 3 years on his contract plus throw in 1 mil dollars of retention. deal would also need to include a salary dump for STL given their cap constrants

    Nick Leddy is pointless in 7 games to start the season and has struggled since last January. Thomas is by most accounts a top 10 NHL prospect (Pronman has him 4th.) There’s no chance that would happen.

    they aren't trading him tomorrow bro hes put up 40+ the last three seasons, is a pp qb and one of the best rush defenseman in the league. there will always bee high demand for that type of player in the modern NHL. you can keep Robby Fabbri hes a third liner calibre player at this point in time with no track record. We would be looking for prospect picks or 2 way centers, not one way 3rd line wingers

    Fabbri was a 19 year old top 6 winger and was the Blues best player when they made it to the 2016 conference finals. Assuming he’s anywhere near the level of play before the injury he will be a top 6 player. I agree with you on your first point though. The Isles don’t have to trade Leddy so they’ve got the leverage to get what they want.

    so unsigned mediocre prospect, signed AHL Goalie, Left handed wing prospect-have plenty and 2nd and third round.

    Ryan Poehling a 2nd and 3rd. Isles have plenty of time to wait for the right deal, not rush for a lot of mediocrity

    Very very comparable to Jake Gardiner.

    Leddy is 1 year younger, but has played 1 more season than Gardiner. As close to identical as you can find.

    Gardiner = 1x $4.05 mill
    Leddy = 4x $5.5 mill

    This is one potential trade for Leafs fans to watch

    hahahahahahaaahahahahahahaahahahahahhaahahahahahaha

    keep your over payed 27 year old LD , no one is that desperate to over pay for Leddy .
    i mean 2-3 years ago sure but not Poehling who was already thriving but just had surgery to fix his breathing issues and off to a career year with 4 points in 5 starts thus far .
    (he'll be 20 this year and likely going to turn Pro with tons of hockey to play for MTL no way we're giving that up for a LD on the down swing of his Prime years .)

    the sad thing is you just look at cap not the players which is why you wrote of this years 2nd round pick Olofsson without even a thought .
    at 6'3 190lbs he's a mobile Center who uses his size well and has speed which is why at 18 he's fitting in well as a rookie in Sweden's top league .

    Lindgren is a great Goalie Prospect which is why he's our highest paid AHL salary at $750,000 a year over $600K more then the next Salary below him .
    (a Deal MTL signed mid season last year without hesitation as Lindgren played well for us )

    Scherbak's a good prospect but he's got 2 things against him
    1)he's russian
    2) he's a 1 way player
    That means Claude Julien wont play him and like Galchenyuk , Radulov and Markov he'll be gone soon whether he has talent or not .
    (Claude like's Canadian/European balance usually shying away from Russians )

    Let me add something to this. While Leddy can put up points, he can't prevent much from going into his net. Now I get people don't like using plus/minus as a good stat because it has it's faults, but -42 is pretty telling combined with 46%CF and 45 ff%. Blues need a better two-way defenseman with Petro which we have in Dunn and Edmundson

    The guy won the masters by a wide margin last year. Long term, pretty big money....2nd round pick tops, and the other team has to be real desperate for power play help, and have the ability to pay a bottom pair pp specialist for 4 years

    I know who Jacob Olofsson, he's a fine 2 -way center but I really don't see him developing in to anything more than a 3rd line MAYBE a second line Center. the offensive explosiveness isn't there. hes got a high floor but a low ceiling. that being said, Olofsson is unsigned, so there is no guarantee he will ever suit up for the islanders.he could wait until 2022 and become an Unrestricted free agent if he wants

    Lindgren is nothing special, what I've read his technique still needs a lot of refining and his Save % is abysmal.

    not a single team in the NHL views him as a 3rd pairing defense man PP specialist. teams salivate over Dmen who can control zone exits the way Leddy can. realistically the islanders would eat some salary to make a deal and teams looking to add a top 4 D, which is what he is, are going to understand that trying to pay one via Free Agency is going to be costly. If you use Plus/Minus to evaluate players, you're an idiot. Corsi/Fenwick all stats really, they are a result, without understanding the reasons and context of the result by using your eyes, they are useless stats

    I would rather have an 18 year old future "MAYBE 2nd line center" than a 27 year old dman who is a slightly better version than Petry (as in, all offense and no defense), 1 Dman like that per team is enough imo. Could you imagine a Leddy - Petry pairing..... You'd see league high Dman offensive numbers, yet still have a -70 lol

    he was MINUS FORTY TWO. that doesn't happen when you are a halfway decent defender. Shattenkirk is better than Leddy (and a RH shot which is more in need) and he wouldn't get some of the returns you've posted)

    edit: also, he put up 40+ points and was STILL -42, 28 of those points are shown in this number as 28 were at even strength

    I've also watched the guy. He's brutal. A team trying to make the playoffs can't afford his blunders in the top four

    Mr. Futility on the block?

    Assuming 50% retention, Caps should offer Walker, Dowd, and Kempny, plus an AHL healthy scratch defenseman and a 2nd.

    I don't like giving up Kempny's physicality, shot blocking, and clutch offense, but Leddy's puck moving and minute eating experience could be assets. He's proven ineffective at 26 minutes, but could turn out solid at 22.

    Since the Caps don't need him on the power play, they could get his minutes down to where he's an effective top four contributor.
