1.
MTL
  1. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2020 (ARI)
Détails additionnels:
Montreal could use more talent on the back end, especially if they are moving out their best defender and Pierre-Olivier Joseph was a recent 1st round draft pick.

The pick could either be a lottery selection or late teen pick: Either way it's a good prospect.
ARI
  1. Weber, Shea
Détails additionnels:
Shea Weber's contract is made for Arizona. With a 7,857,143 hit x 7 years which only costs 24M of actual money because his contract was front loaded. This trade happens if he returns to health as a top pairing RHD and Arizona keeps making deals for good veterans.
2.
MTL
  1. Murphy, Connor
Détails additionnels:
Connor Murphy is a solid RHD. Could be a bit overpaid, but the Canadiens have tons of cap room in this scenario.
CHI
  1. Shaw, Andrew (1 250 000 $ retained)
  2. Choix de 3e ronde en 2020 (MTL)
Détails additionnels:
Chicago keeps trying to recapture what they had when they were winning Cups. They traded away Saad, then traded for him back. Same thing with Kruger. Shaw was another important part to their chemistry that they'd probably give another shot if he was retained some.
3.
MTL
  1. Choix de 4e ronde en 2020 (VGK)
  2. Choix de 6e ronde en 2020 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
Montreal cuts ties with McCarron and Jacob DLR. Neither became what they were hoped to become.

They get 2 late picks to risk on player with top 9 upside if everything goes right.
VGK
  1. De La Rose, Jacob
  2. McCarron, Michael
Détails additionnels:
Vegas is too young of a franchise to have any failed prospects yet. They acquire one (McCarron) along with a role player for a modest draft pick. They had 3x 2nd rounders so they can afford to spare the 4th and 6th, especially when they get back 2 bodies for camp.

Yep, it wouldn't be a Hab trade without trading the Laval Rocket McCarron.

i believe its 2021-2022 when his contract becomes tradable
he'll have 5 years left at 12million left to be paid on his deal

ARZ is never ever ever ever been a Cap Team and they never will be
what they've always focused on is best player for the cheapest payout .

If he comes back a good player his contract is movable next season knowing how little he'll be paid later on. As long as he can be a top 100 defenseman in the league the next 3 or 4 seasons; I think it makes sense for John Chayka to do it next season while Weber's still at a high level.

but how will you know he's still at a high level next year , he'll of only played 40 -45 games by then
i think you're wishing here , Weber's got value but as long as its high payout and high cap no one cares .
he could have 50+ points and teams would still be hesitant as NSH got all the good years out of him and now everyone else is paying for his high contract cost .

minimum 2020-2021 before a team bites after all the injury issues he's had in MTL .
the fact that he lead the league in PP points a month after he was done for the season is the biggest reason anyone is waiting to see if he can return and you need time to showcase that impact

I think what you're leaving out is that John Chayka probably doesn't have an endless amount of time as the team GM if he keeps making moves for veteran players every year, but still fails to even get close to the playoffs every season. Why not get someone who; in 40-45 games can showcase his health by regaining form and actually put the team over the top because he's still a top pair talent? Galchenyuk 2nd liner, Hjalmarsson: 2nd liner, Demers: 2nd liner, Goligoski: 2nd liner. Stepan; fits better as a 2nd liner. Why wouldn't he get a top line player if that's the best available player on the market and it's for a price that's expendable to his team? Weber costs 6M for 3 years and then it's 6 total the following 4 seasons. They had to give up pick #20 + 2nd round pick + prospect for #16 + Pavel Datsyuk's fake caphit. If Weber is still solid and he's making 6M over 4 years but has that high cap hit he might cost the same amount, so it's not really that important to wait imo seeing how Bolland's 5.5M comes off the books anyways.

I like the idea actually, but Montreal would have to sweeten the pot to make it happen. The actual salary may be small, but giving up a good prospect and a first for an older, overpaid defense is not a small price to pay. But maybe Arizona considers it if they're in a playoff position in February
