Idk. CBJ fans have given me the impression that Korpisalo time is coming. And I’m looking at that deal it seems fair for him being a rental. If we wanted him to do a sign and trade it’s more expensive. @Ajp_18 am I even close to what would be. I’m looking at this like the Skinner Rental Trade.

He might Re-sign next year idk, but I’m just looking at it from a perspective of if they were trying to move Korpisalo up and just gonna let Bobrovsky go ideally if not re-signed this is sort of the deal you could get for him.

Good buddy of mine is a CBJ fan. He's not convinced Korpisalo is the answer.

I think they'll move Bob by the TDL if they don't sign him, but I'm not sure that package gets you him. He's worth far more than Skinner and prices always go up at the TDL.

Allen hasn’t been consistent his entire Career. And Bobrovsky isn’t worth as much as you think on a 1 year rental deal.

Agree with comment above. Korpi is decent, but still unproven. There are also hints that Merzlikens might even be better than Korpi.
The issue is that Bob is very solid, and CBJ really gave him his 1st chance (out of Philly), and he has not disappointed, playing himself into the top 3-5 in the league.
There are rumblings in Columbus because we have exited playoffs early (1st round) and Bob is taking much of the heat as a choker.
The reality is CBJ is a very young team stil, and does not have the quality depth up the middle (center position) and the true playoff experience needed to compete at that level (Milano, Jenner, Bjorkstrand, Dubois, Wennberg, Werenski, Anderson, Nutivaara, Kukan, Harrington, etc. etc. etc.).

With Panarin all but saying he doesn't want to be here beyond 2019, the chances that CBJ are able to resign Bob go up considerably.
Plus, if CBJ is in playoff contention, it would be extremely difficult for GM to trade Bob, even without a contract extension in place. Going into playoffs with Korpi and an even younger backup would be insane.

I also think that Bob is the type of guy (personality) that loves playing in Columbus, does not really need the spotlight like some superstars, and would re-sign with a team friendly contract to stay together (like other players have done...Atkinson, Wennberg, Jones, Jenner, etc.)

Looking at it Bobrovsky makes perfect sense for us to get to that next step. Honestly Holtby next season with that makes sense as well. Getting a rental for cheap and convincing him to re-sign later.

Guarantee winning a cup with rental would help sell him on an extension. Good luck (with Holtby, not BOB).

If they go to trade him, I think Allen Foley and a 1st makes more sense. Can't see them taking 2nd and 3rd round picks. And I would imagine St Louis would have to eat some of Allen's dollars for that year so Columbus could flip him easily.

Comparing a 26 year old to a 30 year old goalie is crazy, different positions and their GM is pretty bad. Cliff Pu is an alright prospect though.
