I would do that trade for Eric Staal all day long in hopes he can keep up his offensive production.

Not a fan of the Flyers deal from our perspective. Have plenty of those types on the roster. Need a Nino or Spurgoen type player.

I could get down with something in that range for Spurgeon.

Why would we even want him?

I’d hate to give up Bellerive and Sprong for 1 year of Staal. Even with the kind of production he had last year. But I’d love for Eric Staal to become a penguin.

I was wondering why only a 5th? Does any one know.

Because Wild fans (in general) think NHL hockey should be played with women's hockey rules: all skill and speed, no contact. A full team of Spurgeon and Gaudreau clones is their ideal lineup. sarcasm

Foligno is the result of a (lost) trade for a well liked player (Scandella), and is ~$500k overpaid. He could have a 20g/20a season next year and we'll want to be ship him off for a sack of moldy potatoes. You could probably even talk us down to either the sack or the moldy potatoes.

Well i mean fifth round picks aren't as useful as people think, i'm not sure what the salary cap is for Folingo, but it couldn't hurt getting a bottom six forward for only a 5th round pick (Unless his cap is higher than i expected) Also i can see someone such as Weal, Raffl, Weise getting traded away for a draft pick. (Not a high one obviously)

We already have too many bottom 6Fs adding another isn't going to help.
