Werenski is always injured and they don't need another LHD. If they are going to trade Marner for a guy that gets hurt a lot, 1 for 1, might as well be Ekblad even if Werenski is arguably better and a few months younger.

The other option, and it's I almost prefer....keep Marner for a year, and then when leaves as UFA, the Leafs would have lots of cap.
In this post, I doubt Werenski waives and doubt Marner does too.

Yeah, I don't think Werenski is leaving CLB for anywhere, at least not any time soon. Marner could be convinced maybe. Seems like a nice place to live, and the team should have a bright future with all of the young players and prospects that they have + the mid-aged players even if they are underperforming.

Why not try to get something for Marner now instead of for nothing letting him walk. not saying werenski is the right answer but maybe a guy like theodore out of vegas. You already know whats going to happen if they run it back with the "core 4"
