Doesn't make a ton of sense for either side. Nylander is obviously not the problem in Toronto, and we are trying to win. Trading Nylander hurts that aspiration in any sense, let alone trading him for futures.

The Sabres also pass because Nylander is a pending UFA, and Savoie fits their window better

its not so much the age/window, more that, they've already got offensive wingers in spades. If they make any moves at fwd it will be for a little more two way upside.

I'd only do that trade if:
1) Nylander resigns with Buffalo to the tune of 5-6 years 8-9 mil
2) The 2024 1st is top 3 protected
3) If the Leafs actually would play Savoie, instead of having AA in the lineup like this post tears of joy
