Making the Best of It

I wanted Vatrano as a UFA so good deal. I’m also ok with moving Casey. I’m not sure about dealing Smith though, at least not for that package. If Jarry is resigned it has to be 2-3 years and less than 5 million. I don’t see him taking that and I’m worried even a new GM will overpay him and stick is with a bad contract.

Hawks are the wrong team. They are not spending assets for a backup in the midlle of a rebuild. They have goalie options or will pull a retread off the UFA scrap heap (cause their object next season should be to be really bad again)

Theoretically you could buyout Granlund and have like 4.5mil to spend on a replacement - but realistically the likelihood of that happening is incredibly small. And who knows if it would even be worth it - depending on who the replacement is. Overall I think its' a pretty solid, realistic team. Defense and goaltending are probably pretty similar - maybe slightly better after accounting for the horrendous start Dumo had this year. 3rd lines an obvious improvement.

I agree but don't like the trade of DeSmith and replacing with Hill. It would be a lateral move but I feel like DeSmith has more leadership.
