ROR - COPP

Yeah blues easily decline. We have no need for Copp and especially not at that cap hit or term. We can slide Schenn in the 2C slot for the time being. Also I'd rather just re-sign ROR than trade for Copp.

Considering Yzerman just signed him for 5 seasons I seriously doubt he trades him at all. With Copp being from the area and having played for U of M I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be too happy being shipped off to St. Louis.*** Now that is one of those things players remember and it could hurt Detroit's chances of signing UFAs in the future. I haven't payed much attention ROR in terms of trade value but he is a UFA and I'm pretty sure if he was traded to a contender the return would probably contain a 1st rd pick and a prospect or 2. So I don't see this as a good move for either team.

But it is something different from what we have been seeing over and over and over for the past couple of months.

***To clarify I have absolutely nothing against St. Louis. As a matter of fact I like St, Louis and I visit quite often. Since it's where my brother, his wife and my niece live. I was just saying with all the ties he has to Southeast Michigan he probably would like to stay for a while.

The narrative that he's been playing ****ty is trash. He'll be great for us once he's slotted properly

Well, in fairness he does not appear to me to be at his best playing Center. He seems best suited on the wing.

I agree and his play good or bad didn't figure in to my post.
