Offseason
I don't see the Oilers having interest in Kubalik. They're already in tough to re-sign Yamo and Puljujarvi, I don't think another RFA is in the cards. Also need to figure out the defense a bit better before they look at adding more offense.

Leafs TDL Is this Chi deal fair
The Chicago one probably isn't terribly far off, probably need to add another piece.
The Seattle one though, you're missing at least another 1st round pick.

Oilers Playoff Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TampaBayLightning22</b></div><div>Pat Verbeek will get a far better return for Hampus Lindholm then that.</div></div>
Rumour is the asking price is a 1st, 3rd, and top prospect as per Dreger. I realize Samorukov is a B prospect and not a top prospect... but to compensate for that there's a 2nd instead of a 3rd and then swapping 2nd and 3rds in 2023 as a sweetener. Anaheim may end up with a better offer (supposedly Boston, STL are front runners) but I don't think this is completely out to lunch.

TDL22 Moves
Koskinen is 10-1-2 in his last 13 providing 0.900sv% in 9/13 games. He's not the goalie of the future but makes zero sense for the Oilers to trade a goalie that's at least getting results at the moment for a goalie who looks terrible AND has term. Mike Smith is available if you want him...

No way it happens but dont know if anyone would waive
I'd pay that from the Oilers side all day long. Problem is young starting goalies like this aren't usually available... reality is this bones of the islanders are good and they're likely to bounce back next season. Even for a haul like this, it's still much much more likely that they'd trade Varlamov.
Also, someone will likely concede and give a first for Chiarot.

Because the Oilers trading draft picks to add another goalie with a sub 0.900 sv% makes a ton of sense.

Your best case scenario is one of Bouchard/Barrie at 3RD. Still need a couple offensively minded guys in the line-up and one of those guys on PP1.

Keith can't really be used as a cap dump. He has full NMC and moved to Edmonton to be closer to his kid. He's not going to waive to go end his NHL career at a university rink. Best case is he just straight retires and Edmonton gets a cap credit while Chicago gets hit with recapture.

With no retention and considering he's a rental, I think that's a reasonable offer. If he had another year I'd 100% agree. I'd think the Ducks would be more likely to retain the 50% or take a bad contract back to maximize the return.

So the Oilers should pay a premium to get a guy with terrible stats and hope that by playing him a lot, he gets better? Sounds like a hard pass.

A 1st for Varlamov likely gets it done (assuming Edmonton isn't on his NTC). Maybe a B prospect sweetener.

You're kidding on the Oilers trade right? Trade a top 6 winger on a team friendly contract for a goalie that is a lateral move at best from Koskinen?

Puljujarvi out for 4 weeks
I like the idea of promoting McLeod into the top 6 based on his recent play. The wild card I'd like to see get a shot is Griffith. He's a RW and has 46P in 34GP (1.35P/G) in the AHL this year... I think it warrants at least a look.

Wideman makes zero sense for the Oilers. Even if they move Barrie, they already have Ceci and Bouchard. A dman who can defend probably makes more sense for the 3rd RHD.

With our cap situation and overall team need... really would be better off going for another top 4 Dman or starting goalie if you're going to make a blockbuster trade.

Size difference isn't what I expected (same weight, Pysyk 2" taller). Apparently Barrie is 197lbs... he just plays so much smaller than that.

Barrie on the wing makes sense
I don't see that working any better. He's too small and doesn't play with the physical element to be effective on a forecheck and isn't dynamic enough with the puck to make up for that. The two D that come to mind that were able to play both were Burns and Byfuglien.. both were physical enough and good enough with the puck that they could play both ends. Not sure if I'm missing any small dman that's made the jump to forward successfully.

I wouldn't be opposed if they got a return like that. Turn around and acquire someone like Braun to fill out the rest of the season on the RHS. Helps the cap situation going forward as well. Have a little more cap room this season and still have the 1st rounder to acquire another LD and/or G.

Quick Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Not to stray too far off topic, but the big question mark for me on Campbell is who's going to give him that money?
Your teams without a concrete goalie situatoin are Edmonton, SJ, Chicago, Arizona, Buffalo, Toronto, maybe PIttsburgh? Feels like you cross off Arizona and Buffalo because they're too far away to spend money on a 30 year old goalie. Chicago is really close to being in that group, but I would've said the same thing last year and they went out and got MAF. Edmonton is in a tough spot because Mike Smith's status for next year makes it hard to predict what they do - I could imagine them rolling Smith & Skinner so they don't have to put Skinner through waivers and risk losing him.
That leaves Toronto, San Jose, and Pittsburgh. Sharks fans can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see Adin Hill as a long term fit there, and they seem like a team that could retool for one last shot as opposed to a full teardown. Pittsburgh is losing DeSmith this offseason and I could see them signing Campbell since Jarry is UFA after 2023? And then, obviously Toronto. Feels like they might not have the most competition to try and re-sign Campbell, which I wonder if it keeps that AAV lower.</div></div>
I think you could add Washington and Colorado to that list as well. 2 contending teams (though would have to move around money) that could be interested. Kuemper's stats look decent but he's still a UFA and could potentially walk. Washington's situation is also with Vanacek and Samsonov both showing potential but neither really have taken the reigns.

Jackets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>Well he also *was* a backup those five seasons, more or less.
A Korpi for Koski trade boils down to how much EDM wants to save money, how much they actually believe they will be a playoff team, and how much more drama any Koski situation creates. If I'm CBJ, and I'm taking Koski on full price, I want better than a two round pick swap. Otherwise, I see Korpi as someone who is traded straight up for a mid-rounder to some team that is simply looking for G insurance come playoff time.
We can do better for Rosy. Plus, Abramov is a meh-level prospect who is still signed in the KHL for another season.
The Domi trade...is fine. Idk, I've seen better ones on these boards.</div></div>
Nothing wrong with the Korpisalo trade in terms of value given skill level vs Koskinen and a downgrading from a 3rd to a 5th to save cap. Just more so from the perspective it really doesn't change anything in Edmonton's crease. Would still need to make a move for a guy who can start.
