Campbell will make more than that. Couldn’t see Vancouver doing that trade without a good prospect being involved

Well if he isn’t resigning with Toronto I’d imagine there will be a bidding war for him. Not sure what he make but it’s certainly more than 3 mil.

MTL would pay way more for Pageau.

The real reason i'm writing a comment is because I love your avatar's logo. The Captain Highliner was the best design/color they had. Fight me.

Campbell probably gets more than 3x3 on the open market, plus I don't think the Islanders need to devote that much cap to a backup goalie. Sorokin has shown that he can handle a heavy workload when he started the first 9 games of that long road trip this year - including both ends of a back-to-back where he had shutouts in both games. While Skarek might not be ready to be the backup, there are plenty of UFA guys who could be had for $2M or less this offseason - Halak, Greiss, Brian Elliott, David Rittich, Martin Jones - not sexy names, but guys that I feel confident giving 20-25 games without them completing ****ting the bed.

Really depends on how the remainder of the season goes and the playoffs. Where he's at now, I would think someone offers $5mil, if he regains his early season form and goes on a run in the playoffs he could easily get 6+. Once again, based on how the rest of the season goes, I think the best comparison would be Markstrom a couple years ago who got $6x6.

Would they? They're in worse shape than the Islanders and don't have the cap space for his contract.

Not to stray too far off topic, but the big question mark for me on Campbell is who's going to give him that money?

Your teams without a concrete goalie situatoin are Edmonton, SJ, Chicago, Arizona, Buffalo, Toronto, maybe PIttsburgh? Feels like you cross off Arizona and Buffalo because they're too far away to spend money on a 30 year old goalie. Chicago is really close to being in that group, but I would've said the same thing last year and they went out and got MAF. Edmonton is in a tough spot because Mike Smith's status for next year makes it hard to predict what they do - I could imagine them rolling Smith & Skinner so they don't have to put Skinner through waivers and risk losing him.

That leaves Toronto, San Jose, and Pittsburgh. Sharks fans can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see Adin Hill as a long term fit there, and they seem like a team that could retool for one last shot as opposed to a full teardown. Pittsburgh is losing DeSmith this offseason and I could see them signing Campbell since Jarry is UFA after 2023? And then, obviously Toronto. Feels like they might not have the most competition to try and re-sign Campbell, which I wonder if it keeps that AAV lower.

I think you could add Washington and Colorado to that list as well. 2 contending teams (though would have to move around money) that could be interested. Kuemper's stats look decent but he's still a UFA and could potentially walk. Washington's situation is also with Vanacek and Samsonov both showing potential but neither really have taken the reigns.

yeah maybe Lou goes for Hill, idk. He's honestly a mystery man sometimes bro. Maybe they sign either the previously mentioned Hill or DeSmith or Halak or Holtby... who knows...

He's a former 1st rounder himself, only 20 years old, and playing really well in BPT this season? I'm not cutting ties for an extra 3rd personally. He's better than any crapshoot you're taking around there

my heart says to bring back Thomas Greiss on a $1.5M-ish deal if he doesn't retire, but like you said Lou has his ways. He might even keep Varlamov going forward, which wouldn't be the worst outcome despite what everyone who's already bought him a plane ticket to Edmonton would say

Forgot about Kuemper being a UFA this year! Both him and Francouz are UFAs, and the Avs' prospects don't look quite ready for primetime. They've got a good amount of cap to play with next year if they want to go big on Campbell.

I almost included Washington, but every proposal I've seen recently with Samsonov being moved out always has a couple Caps fans saying he hasn't reached his potential and they're not moving him - yet it seems none of them are really happy with that tandem. They are the true wildcard in the goalie market this offseason because I could see a wide range of outcomes for them.

So maybe 5x6 is in the cards for Campbell after all.

Greiss' numbers haven't been great with Detroit from when I last checked. I'd rather trade away Varly for draft picks & a goalie rental this season in order to get a veteran goalie this off season + some good stuff in the draft (because this draft is supposed to be the best since 2015 & we all know that class is the best of the best)

Idk if there's many in Brooklyn, but real old fishermen are fkn badass and intimidating.

I am also a fan of the black Sabres Jersey with the Buffalo head who's making a comeback this year. 90's design had some W.... and a lot of L...

I am not from Brooklyn, but what I can say is that it's not same place my uncle grew up in. I like the Fisherman, but I don't love it. It was such a great idea, made at the worst time. Glad their bringing it back as a reverse retro.

I dont really like the black Sabres jerseys tbh. When I think of Buffalo I think Blue and Yellow. That whole team has been an L since 2013

He would be the perfect replacement for Danault that we miss awefully...

You might be right about the cap space. But it all very confused with Price's injury right now. Hugues would try to make space (too many wingers) for a 2 way center for sure.
