marner trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Can't see the Leafs trading Marner. They will force a team to present an offer sheet, and allow Marner to sign it.</div></div>
I don't think anyone is going to offer sheet him because as good as he is he's not worth four 1st round picks & at this point I think everyone knows that an offer sheet that exceeds $52,568,590 will be rejected by Toronto and they will take the compensation. Rumours are William Karlsson is set to sign 8*$6M in Vegas which has got to be disconcerting for the Marner camp.

If Marner gets Offer sheeted
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>linehan10</b></div><div>Why would he be offer sheeted y’all have the cap room now</div></div>
No, no they don't. Even with Marleau gone and Horton on LTIR Toronto have less than $20M in space with only 16 players signed and an AHL defense.
If Marner is going to want $11M Toronto are much better taking 4*1st round picks, but I don't really see anyone offer sheeting him . I can see someone offering Johnsson or Kapanen 3*$4.2M and only having to give up a 2nd round pick

Why do people keep giving up Bracco for Colin Miller ? Have you not watched Miller play, I'd rather keep Zaitsev

Dont be stingy with those 1sts now, you have plenty, add one to each D trade so you will silence the gloaters</div></div>
Just because you have the 1sts doesn't mean you have to give them away, I think the deals are fair, Columbus will need a center more than they need Savard and Anaheim pick up a couple of assets to jump start the rebuild.

How ? There's no way they can afford $14.4M. Even with Marleau gone and Horton on LTIR they only have $19M in cap space with 16 players signed.
At this point I put the odds of Marner being back in Toronto at 50/50 & if someone makes a 4 first round pick offer sheet I put the odds at 80% Leafs don't match

Marleau
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leaflet</b></div><div>I understand there must be something in the trade for the Kings. But let's face it, Marleau's contract doesn't cost much in terms of real money. So the trade amounts to Bracco, the top player in the AHL, for Clifford, an enforcer. And the Leafs can play Marchment, a younger and cheaper enforcer if they need to. It's not good.
I can see two options for swapping players with the Kings, and making this an interesting trade on both ends. One, Trevor Moore, because he's native from California. He's great, really. So this means something serious coming the other way. LaDue would be the player I'd want coming the other way. Two, a young LHD, which can help the Kings a lot in their rebuild, and the Leafs have an abundance of (Borgman, Rosen, ...).</div></div>
Marchment's Dad was an enforcer, Mason Marchmenthas never drawn more than 60 pim in a season since Tier 2 Jr A, also from the LA end the Marleau contract doesn't mean much but for Toronto it's huge

If they get Clifford back I can see them moving Bracco. Moving Marleau is pretty much essential if they want to sign Kapanen & Johnsson (I'm assuming they resign Marner) they definitely aren't moving either of the Swedish Dmen in a salary dump though

Marleau
I agree that the Phaneuf buyout may open a chance for Marleau to be moved to LA but if the Kings are giving up Clifford they will want more than Bracco & a 7th to sweeten the pot.
Clifford is actually exactly the type of player Toronto should be targeting, one year left on a cheap contract, physical and a good possession guy at a position they need.

Remind me again how many cup wins, playoff appearances, Gold medals or the winning percentage of Travis Green as a coach ? Oh wait .............LOL!!
As for Stecher vs Zaitsev they both have 3 years in the league, Zaitsev has more goals, more points, more hits, more blocks & similar possession numbers, except that Zaitsev starts in the O zone less than 44% vs Stetcher's more than 50% and Zaitsev play 2 minutes more per gamer. Stetcher has more takeaways and less giveaways.

Leafs aren't trading Kadri for Johnson even if Colorado picks up Marleau's contract
Johnson's contract is an albatross & with him and Miler on the team they would have to play both Sparks & Andersson to keep the goals against under 4.00

I know that there's a time zone issue but it is possible to watch Eastern games in Vancouver.
Zaitsev is instantly the Cancucks 2nd pairing RHD and on their 1st unit PK, he would lead all their Dmen in hits and by 20121-22 his contract will be a bargain. Toronto will not be "paying" anyone to take Zaitsev off their hands, if they don't get an asset in return he will either be back in Toronto or back in the KHL, in which case his cap hit disappears.

semi-realistic offseason improvements
Just a few nit picks.
I think you probably have to eat some salary on Sutter, I think your Chiarot contract is a little light and I don't Minnesota making that deal.
I'm not saying Zucker is off the table but Minnesota apparently asked for Boesser when Vancouver initially asked about Zucker. Zucker is not only a 30 goals scorer he's an advanced stats God so i don't think Virtanen, the rights to Hutton & a 2nd gets that done, Zucker had more goals last year than Jake has in his career.
