Description
I've made one small Bryan Little based adjustment... because I think this is something the Jets should explore... Little may Waive for a chance at better minutes on a team that needs offense, and contains Andrew Ladd.

Also, forget Beaulieu... I know that Niku played the right side at the AHL level... it's a hard thing to do at the speed of the NHL.

Plus a surprise signing of a guy I would refer to as "Wheeler-Lite"

It's been said here before but trading Ehlers for RNH isn't a good idea, losing way too much term and doubtful Edmonton is doing that trade, they need to add a top 6 forward without losing one.

Can't see Jersey giving up that much for the right to pay Trouba, but who knows I didn't think Skinner was going to get $9M*8

Well, Ray Shero has been quoted as saying he's looking for a true Shutdown defenseman... They have the second most cap space in the NHL... And 5 draft picks in the 2nd and third round... Not to mention, first overall. If it comes down to which team offers the Jets the best trade package... This one makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, I know you think that. I wouldn't be so surprised if it happens. A true 2C is an area of need... If I'm the Oilers and I see a chance to lock up a winger with McDavid speed for the next 6 years, for the price of my third best center... I'm doing it... This is also the type of deal that screams "Ken Holland". With the Jets organizational depth on the wing... This is one they could afford.

Again, these are not my thoughts... They are the thoughts of a Winnipeg Free Press Jets insider... So take that for what it's worth.

Oh, I know that's what you think....Kyle Connor is not getting you RNH... This is a salary wash... That's why it makes sense for both teams.

So, no... This deal makes more sense.

No I mean trading Connor elsewhere for something or someone else completely.
What would Detroit give for Connor?

Best case? Anthony Mantha... Who is basically the same player, just two years older.

You're not getting a 2C from Connor.

Funny you say that cause Anthony Mantha sounds like the exact kind of player that you think the Jets need.. Lol

So a young winger who's twice scored 30 goals isn't worth a 2C but Ehlers is? That makes no sense.

The fit between Ehlers and McDavid, and the Salary wash is what makes this a rare good hockey trade between 2 teams with matching surpluses and needs.

Yeah doubt Trouba has any interest in the NJD Rangers, Red Wings, Flyers, Lightning and Panthers would be his teams of choice.

Based on what's being reported out there, Every one of those teams is being heavily linked to Jacob Trouba the Devils aren't among them.

The problem is giving up severson. NJ is thin on the right side and while Trouba is a need so is Severson.
We have a lot of active o minded defenders. Trading Sevs for a much better version of him basically.

Counteroffer: Sami Vatanen at 50% retained ($2.4M), a 2020 conditional pick (2nd) if he does not resign, the picks above mentioned, Mcleod or one of our other righty D (Santini, Jacobs-who had first call up late this yr)
Winnipeg then goes:
1 Buff
2 Vats
3 Myers/replacement

No deal. If the Jets are targeting players with cost certainty in a Trouba deal. No interest in Vatanen.

Trouba
Vatanen
Santini down the right side is a very good situation.

I'm seeing ideas!like this and think the offer I suggested is far better:

Trouba's rights
For
NYRs-
Kreider, Chris ($2,000,000 retained)
Pionk, Neal [RFA Rights]
2019 1st round pick (WPG)

Ooof. That's a TOUGH look.... you have to assume if that was the asking price, a deal would be done by now. That's not nearly enough. Clearly he lowered the price so they would take on Kulikov's overpaid salary.
