<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KPM12</b></div><div>Buffalo will definitely take that, I don’t know why the Bruins would trade him though considering his even strength D and offense impacts in his 1.25 years in Boston. Grezy is super underrated and won’t get the value back he deserves, JFRESH and All 3 Zones analytics sites both show fantastic metrics for him. Saying that, I think its smart for the Bruins to work around the package of Carlo, high pick, + to fill the 2c that eventually will be 1c in Boston. Carlo holds a lot of value and rightfully so given his age and play style. The bruins would still feel good on D with Grezy and Reilly who are very undervalued by the general Public while filling a big whole at Center.</div></div>
Grizz's time is up in Boston imo. He's not a playoff player. At least for the Bruins he's not. I think in his playoff career his +/- is like a -18. I know thats not the end all be all stat to look at but its also a pretty telling indicator of what happens come the postseason. Personally I think he's a 3rd pair dman on a true cup contending team. He's somewhat underrated but also I think overvalued locally because he's a Boston boy. He should fetch a mid round pick or two (2nd/3rd and 4th round pick) which I think is pretty fair value for him.

Im not mad just ok
Its obviously the playoffs and anything can happen but realistically, or at least on paper, even with a DeBrusk trade for Rakell or Copp I still dont see the B's getting passed FLA, CAR and maybe TB (even tho I think they're much more beatable this year than the past two). So it was smart to just hold on DeBrusk for now as much as I'm ready to see him go. Re-assess his situation come summertime. Adding Lindholm and locking in the top pair long term was great to see. Huge win. Josh Brown adds some needed size on the backend. One thing I wish they went out and tried is to add a depth forward because Studnicka, Steen and Blidh are all next guys up in case of injury, dont know how I feel about tht. But overall solid deadline for Sweeney, give him a B.

Winners and Losers
Idk if I'd call the Bruins losers here. Im a B's fan so probably some bias BUT if they made a move for 2C, DeBrusk was likely on the way out creating a hole at RW1. Haula has been fine and has experience on a deep run with VGK in their inaugural season. The Bruins finally added their top 4 LHD which gives them a great D core imo. Josh Brown isnt anything to go wild over but he also gives them some much needed size on the back end. I'd give the B's a solid B grade this deadline. Kept Lysell, Lauko, Loheri, Harrison, kept the 2023 1st round pick (for now) in a draft thats supposed to be deep in the 1st round. In the end they probably aren't making it past FLA, CAR, TB with or without DeBrusk so ride with what you got and re-assess in the summer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>shmoeman</b></div><div>it all kinda depends on how Debrusk was valued throughout the league. If there was a Rakell or Copp for Debrusk + a little something, I'm disappointed. If he was essentially a throw in on any deals for one of those guys and a deal would've had to be Debrusk+2nd+prospect (Studnicka?) Im happy he stayed put.
We acquired the best defensemen on the market without giving up our top 4 prospects. Im ok with that. People saying we aren't cup contenders are crazy, 2nd most wins in the NHL since Jan 1st. and they got better. Its going to be damn hard to score against these guys in the playoffs</div></div>
The rumored return for Rakell was a 2nd + roster player + prospect so I think its safe to assume that your latter deal for Rakell was what was on the table from the B's

Understandable, but in the case of the Blues, they had the pieces to compete, same for the Kings. The B's are weak on the left side on defense, their secondary scoring is still pretty abysmal, this team unfortunately just isnt built to win. And you're not wrong, its still early in the season and they do have games in hand on a lot of teams. I probably should've noted this wouldn't be something done now and done closer to the TDL when the Bruins have a better understanding of their fate this season. Idk I just think the Bruins have to actually consider talking about doing something like this if the season does head south.

Like I think this is a pretty good deal for a future HoF, and I know Robert Thomas is a great young player. But if the Blues had Reilly-Bergy 1-2 punch up the middle they become a much harder team to play against than they already are. Do you risk a young player? Yes, but if it results in another Cup it's worth it IMO.

But do you at least see where I'm coming from here? Why not move Bergy for assets and then re-sign him in the summer? I forgot to add that Bergy needs to accept any trade involved so that would maybe hinder everything I just talked about. But again, re-gain some assets, if Bergy allows it to happen and then re-sign him come Summer 2022.

I agree with you about Coyle. I look at this as more of something to really get Hall going. With Marchy suspended and Hall playing up on top line, Haula-Coyle-Smith seems to be a line thats clicked since being put together. So you could look at Coyle's line as 2A and Strome as 2B.

If Rask signs it won't be till mid season and he won't get even close to a full contract. I think half of what his expected salary would be for a full season is acceptable at the time they'd likely be signing him. So 2.5-3 is very much in the ballpark IMO.

Opening night lines
IMO I think Coyle gets first jab at 2C, I hope they dont put Reilly on the top pair. For the defensive pairs I'd go with Forbort-McAvoy, Grizz-Carlo, Reilly-Clifton. Give McAvoy a defensive minded guy so he can add some more focus to his offensive game. Grizz-Carlo is a solid 2nd pair duo, and I'm not a fan of Reilly so I'd hide him down on the third pair. Realistically I think Grizz-Mac, Reilly-Carlo, Forbort-Clifton are the dpairs going into opening night. Also Lazar over Wags if were going off of Lazars small sample size last season.

Dont you think its kind of absurd that he's asking for a contract like this? Like I understand the kid was the electric factory this year for the Wild but damn, first year pro at 24 and asking for huge money. First off hats off to the kid and his agent for having the balls to do that and secondly if I were a wild fan I'd second guess this signing for the next 4 years. Like to me this comes off as a bad impression of the player and his intentions. What has he proven? He hasn't proven sustainability. I just could see a deal like this ending horribly for the Wild. Or he could go on and become the next Wayne Gretzky and be a steal of a contract lol. Idk it just seems odd that he's asking for top notch dollar while really not proving a damn thing besides 1 year under his belt

Personally I dont think McAvoy or Pasta ask for $10mil on their extensions. Pasta has said before he isnt in it for the money. Things also change and agents are greedy so who knows what will happen with him. As for McAvoy, I just think he's totally bought into this Bruins culture, and wants to be the next guy everyone looks up to as the go to guy in Boston. And he's had a couple of the best mentors there are in Bergy and Chara.

quantity of depth I think at the expense of Krejci
What Sweeneys has done this summer is one of the reasons I really am kind of fed up with him. Pretty much every year its been these plug and pray type of moves. Stempniak, JML, Tommy Wingels (im probably missing more lol) and then the grand finale of signing 3rd line wingers and 3rd pair dmen this summer. And I understand that theres things that can limit what a GM can really do. Cap space, impending RFAs/UFAs, ect. but the ONE year where Sweeney made some bigger moves (Coyle and Johansson), we make a deep cup run. Yeah we had some help from CBJ and the Canes knocking out Caps and Bolts but the aggressiveness was there. We traded the "highly touted" Ryan Donato. I remember how mad fans were when we traded him. Just like they'd be mad if we traded Studnicka or Urho away. This team has always seemed to be missing that one piece to tie it all together. This year a little different with Rask out long term and Krejci leaving. But its clear that Sweeney and co. didnt have a back up plan for Krejci, the Ullmark signing imo is ballsy as all hell. Complete wild card. Im not a fan of Haula or Folingo (tho I'm sure I'll change my tune a bit on Folingo, just because he seems like a solid hockey player and would fit the Bruins culture well). I very much dislike Mike Reilly, think he's a liability defensively and that Mac and Grizz can handle the offensive production on the back end. I do like Nosek and Forbort. Forbort seems like a solid replacement for Kevan Miller on the back end. Similar player, may not be as tough as Miller but he should be sufficient on the 3rd pair d. The only thing I can say thats positive about this summer is they did add size. Everyone they added/resigned is over 6 feet, minus Hall. But overall I dont think they got better. At best they remained stagnant and I realistically cant even agree that they are the same team as last year with Rask and Krejci not being back. Its going to be an interesting year, I think as of now they're a wild card team.

Fair, they both do about the same for me. Id probably give the edge to Lauzon just because he's shown he's versatile playing both sides and that he's shown he can, for the most part, hold his own playing up in the line up on a pairing that he may not be totally skilled enough for.

Not really giving up much here to get Lauzon back. A mid/late round pick and Steen whose gonna be going on age 24 and just made his NHL debut this past season. Not that this trade is even totally needed for the B's but hypothetically if it happened I wouldn't be mad at the price
