He doesnt have a plan other than Krejci and Bergy lol. It'll probably be Coyle, Stud, McLaughlin/Nosek if Krejci doesn't come back

We Are Done As A Contender Time To Embrace A Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PhysicalGraffiti</b></div><div>And it’s a huge mistake</div></div>
Is it though? It isnt like the Bruins don't have the core to keep being competitive. Pasta, McAvoy, Hall, DeBrusk, Lindholm, Carlo, Grizz, Swayman is a pretty healthy group to continue moving forward with. Might not be contender status, but they'll likely be in the mix for a playoff spot. Its gonna be tough to find the next 1+2C, ill give you that. But they'll probably be able to maintain for a couple years, free up some cap space and find their next guy and be right in the thick of things again. As much as I'd be for a rebuild I just think the core is too talented to push for a tank or rebuild. And I dont think we'll see them have a complete fire sale either. I also think Lysell and Loheri are two huge prospects that the Bruins need to hope they hit on.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>They were expiring which is different. Again I think Reilly would’ve been traded by now if he had value.</div></div>
Reilly isnt gonna be moved. Not because nobody wants him but the Bruins actually need the depth on the back end with the injuries to McAvoy and Grizz. Maybe come the Bruins full health that changes but I dont think Reilly is one of those if he had value he'd already be moved by now players. I also think FA hurt his trade market a tad. But once the season gets going and teams may want to improve/replace injuries and the Bruins regain their depth is when Reilly would likely be moved. At least IMO thats where the whole Reilly situation is at right now

Idea for lines with zacha
I personally want them to go DeBrusk-Bergy-Lysell to start. Could be considered a risky promotion but give him a shot. If it doesnt work you have the options to create 4 lines. It also lets you keep Debrusk with Bergy, get Hall-Krejci-Pasta line rolling and Zacha-Coyle-Smith familiarized with one another. And if Lysell clicks on that top line then they'll have plenty of options. I also think Studnicka will get a healthy look, maybe 1st line but I think 4th line. Freddy-Stud-Steen. Which also means I could see Nosek getting moved too.

No Johnny No Problem
As good as Johnny Gaudreau is, its probably better off for the Devils that he didn't sign with you guys. Hughes, Bratt and Gaudreau would in a way sort of be like Matthews, Marner and JT salary wise. Just arguably not as skilled and definitely a little less costly than the Toronto trio but I think adding him would see the Devils quickly run into some cap issues in the immediate future and long term

What do you think the jackets do Thread
As an outsider and based off this lineup, moving Nyquist is the option that makes the most sense to me. I dont watch CBJ hockey so idk how important he is to CBJ but from what I do know about just NHL players, I'd definitely would keep Bjorkstrand over Nyquist. Nyquist on a rental deal too so return might not be as optimal of a return but probably the easiest to move out considering he's got 1 year left at a rather fair cap hit.

Czeching Line
Sweeney was too slow on the phones, Isles made the move for Romanov at the draft to strengthen their left side. Yotes imo would want none of that. Better off just trying to put a package together for Chychrun and Yotes will likely want Lysell, 2023 1st round pick at the minimum.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ncposeidon</b></div><div>if bergeron dosnt come back we tank simple</div></div>
Gonna be hard to tank. They might not be as good but I bet you they still are a fringe wild card team fighting for a spot in the last week or two of the season for a final spot without Bergy. If no Bergy they'll add a 2C in free agency to stop gap this year until they can find a more permanent solution. The Bruins are literally in no-mans land and as a fan its kind of terrifying to see.

Offseason
When I look at this roster I think they're just a good team. Obviously NHL playoffs anything can happen but this doesnt get me all jazzed up and ready for a year resulting in a deep run. Not to mention with the Bruins having very little space to maneuver upgrades, we could see a team or two pass them who have the ability to add a bit in free agency or via trades. So after the next few days I think we'll have a better grasp of where the Bruins could stand in the East (on paper).
If I was in charge I'd try to do a few things. One; I'd tried to upgrade on Grizz. Personally I just think his time is done in Boston. Like him as a player, just for me one of those things. I know fans love him, local kid. Just doesnt seem to have it come playoff time the past couple years. Dont know what's really out there to upgrade on him. Chychrun is an obvious one but sounds like the Yotes are holding him unless they get something they can't refuse. IF Grizz cant be moved I think its time to ship out Smith and give Lysell his spot in the lineup. Might have to be something that waits till they get back Marchy just so they can maintain some depth thru the early injuries. Reilly is another guy, again dont know if he gets moved until they regain some health on the back end cuz the depth there rn is minimal with Grizz and McAvoy out. I think its gonna be a rather quiet and boring offseason overall for the Bruins unless one of/both Krejci or Bergy decide they aren't coming back then the B's brass will be scrambling to find a solution.
I personally hope they stink for a couple years. I want Sweeney and Neely out. Idk if you heard ownership talk about upper management but they basically guaranteed Neely's job security and basically said if Neely wants to do it he's got the green light, which in essence also means Don has the green light cuz Neely trusts Don's ability to put together a club. I think its a nightmare situation to be in right now as a Bruins fan right now. This management has NO plan. They're relying on David freaking Krejci to come back and play 2C for us. We're loaded with depth players who really bring no significant impact. Coyle and Smith maybe the only two in the bottom 6. Lazar too, he was a great 4th line guy for the B's. But I just dont see what their vision is and where the hell they're trying to go. But hopefully my ignorance of just being a fan is wrong and they have a great season and win a cup.
Rant over.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fotiu4U</b></div><div>Yeah, sure he would. I'm sure he will take a 3rd of what he could make elsewhere because of loyalty. Lets see it happen.</div></div>
Whats your distaste in the idea that could happen or be a thing? lol. If you want to argue theres no point for him to take a cut to try and win in Boston then yeah I'd probably agree. Idk what they're gonna do to help improve this team to contender status. But I'm pretty sure Bergy is on record saying that he wouldn't play anywhere else. Not that its to be taken so literally that he would actually never go anywhere else, anythings possible. But imo its either he's in a Bruins jersey or retires.

Bergeron isnt going to come back to do some 1st round tour again. He'll definitely take short money with bonuses if that can help improve their chances of winning before he hangs them up. Patrice Bergeron would rather have one last kick at the cup over a few million extra dollars, at least in my opinion he would.

The unfortunate part is this is probably pretty accurate imo. Think they'll sign a 3rd line winger. Maybe see them move Wagner and not resign brown and bring in new depth guys. Maybe trade Reilly or Forbort. Lazar signs somewhere else. I think they're gonna focus on getting Steen, Stud, Zboril (and hopefully Lysell) in the line up early with the injuries and take it from there.

This was with the expectation of Lysell being ready and making the jump. Sweeney said something along the lines of working in the youth and thats basically how I incorporated involving the youth while gaining some extra future assets as well.

I agree, I just don't really know what else they can do. They're strapped against the cap even if Bergy takes a significant pay cut. This team is very similar to this past seasons team, Lysell is a wild card that could be a game changer. 1st or 2nd round team but I think thats really only the best they can do unless guys overachieve.

If they're heading for a rebuild why would it not happen? Tkachuk is younger than Pasta, maybe Tkachuk is a player the Bruins rather build around up front over Pasta. Just because a team is per say rebuilding it doesnt mean they have to dump their best player for 1st round picks and/or prospects. There's other ways you can rebuild. Lucic and Hamilton weren't their best players when they last retooled. Why couldn't they move Carlo, DeBrusk, Coyle, Ullmark, Marchy (assuming last 3 waive their clauses) for picks/prospects?

Its also not at all likely he is moved with an extension in place. Sign and trades just aren't a thing in the NHL</div></div>
Its trade and sign in the NHL, but the player usually dictates where they want to go in those scenarios and the team trading for said player usually has a contract ready in place. So its not a per say sign and trade but there is extra value that needs to be given up with the player ready to sign long term to where they are heading.

I also said between Hall and Miller. JT should have more value as a center imo</div></div>
I agree JT gets an edge in value cuz he's a center. I still think Tkachuk and Pasta are actually very close in value. Both produce goals and points at a very similar clip. Both of their possession metrics are very similar. The only value Tkachuk holds over Pasta is the RFA tag. But how much value does that really add when we all know if the Bruins indeed move pasta its likely with an extension? I love Tkachuck, great player, wish he was a Bruin but trying to be unbiased as possible as a Bruins fan I feel that Pasta would have very similar value (with an extension - which is the only way I see the Bruins moving him). But I'm interested in hearing why you think Tkachuk has more value, outside of being a year and a half younger and having RFA status

First part agreed, Pasta doesnt fetch top 5 pick. Second part, think he'd goes for more than Hall, I think any JT Miller trade is a better comparison or also somewhat similar to a return you'd want if the Flames moved on from Tkachuk.

With Butch officially gone now I think Reilly and DeBrusk are definitely staying. Both guys who were in Cassidys doghouse, Reilly even confronted Cassidy on it. Lindholm, Reilly, Zboril will be the left side until fully healthy. Forbort is my guess on whose the odd man out on the left side and they might not even move him either.
