As an avs fan that Boston trade is like ummm WHAT... Yeah he is the hometown kid.. But Boston isnt trading a young RHD for that crappy package.

If we were to do the trade with Florida we would have to give up the 2nd rd pick as Hub is signed cheaply for 4 more years while Barrie is an UFA at the end of next season. Also if we got Hub he would be the 2nd line center. You also forgot to add in a top prospect like hughes or Kakko who I think we will end up with one or the other. Would love to see Kakko on a line with Rants.
Doubt Rant will sign for anything under 9million. We could have gotten him for 8 million but Sakic likes to play the Cap game which is stupid.
I dont see Z getting much more than 3 million. He has had a down year. ANd not smart to pay one of your 3rd pairing Defenders 4 million . If that is what he asks for, he will be traded

Your salaries for everyone you signed are off.
Getting Mikko signed for anything close to 8 million sailed months ago. He is looking like 9-10 million right now
Same for Stone. It was reported Skinners reps were asking Buffalo for 9+ million
JTC will be getting around 2.5 million.
Kerfoot hopefully will be traded but most def wont sign for 1.25 million
Z probably wants a longer term deal than 1 year. and it will be for around 3-4 million
with Dzingel having a career year during contract year I wouldnt want to overpay for him. But I am sure 1 GM who loses out on others will give him 5.5 million or more

If Kerfoot is anywhere near the top 2 lines next season Joe Sakic has failed.
You forgot to add in Kakko or Hughes to the lineup.

Weird luck
If Kerfoot gets anything near 4.5 million they need to trade him.. He has been MIA for the past month.
You have Frankie making less than he is now even though he would be in the NHL ??? Why would he want to resign with colorado after watching Varly and Grub suck down the stretch and he wasnt given a fair shot.
Kaut will be in the lineup over Jost

I would think Barrie would be added. Even Timmins. But everyone knows that mack and Rant and Makar arent getting traded. If Ottawa's pick is top 2 they get Hughes or Kakko which is a very nice building block and another mid first. They can flip barrie if they desire to get more picks/prospects. Jost is only 20 and so many people are writing him off. He should have never been brought up to the NHL so soon as he wasnt ready

THats a horrible trade for McDavid. They would get way more than that. Switch Ghost with Provorov and add 3 more 1st rd picks. And Edmonton might not be too quick to hang up on you

I see Mikko getting 8x 9 million at most. Since that is what UFA top wingers will be getting.. He is still RFA so loses some leverage. No way he is getting 10.5 million

Avs add 4 1st rounders next year
I think they will look to take offers on Erik Johnson. Is the oldest, has the most injuries and is locked up. People are sleeping on Bowers who outplayed Brady Tkachuk as freshmen.
also I think Igor Shvyryov (C) could have a spot next year as well. Putting Kamenev as a top forward is silly.. he hasnt even proved he can stay healthy. The way Brandon Saigeon (C) is lighting up the AHL he could be called up to the big club when injuries hit. Would give that 3rd/4th line some offense.

Nylander to the Av??s
Colorado is not trading Barrie and picks for Nylander all so they can overpay him. They have to pay Rantanan first.. He is the 84pt winger they already have.. No reason to overpay a 60 pt winger first.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JeffW</b></div><div>Anybody who has 8 million dollars in cap space and the required compensation picks can afford him, I'm saying it's not worth it, 7 to 8 mill on a small 20 goal rw when they have a 30 goal right winger they need to sign next year to to mention everyone else coming up on their deals, while losing those draft picks... what happens if otts pick turns into hughes, then colorado will be in the same hot water as toronto in a few years</div></div>
Colorado is 5 years away from being in cap problems. That is when Mack's contract will expire. Until there are other players we can trade if need be: Erik Johnson (6 million), Landeskog (5.5 million) this is on top of the 34+ million in cap room we have going into the 2019 offseason. So yes we can afford Nylander, Rants and Z and still have plenty left over to offer a big time FA if we wanted too. Is it smart. NO cause i dont think the Avalanche are a playoff team and dont really need to give away a lottery pick in a strong draft class

Colorado should not be giving up their pick this year. It could be a top 10 pick. Last year i think was fluky and a lot of things went right and lots of guys have career years. Kerfoot is no where close to getting a 4.5 million a year. He will not shoot 25% again either.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>Marner is not worth 10 million. That is utter nonsense.
Nylander and Marner's advanced stats show they are essentially equal, Marner a slightly better playmaker and Nylander having the better shot. But they are both about the same. Plus if anyone is going to take a home town discount its going to be Marner not Nylander.</div></div>
I agree. I keep seeing Toronto fans pump up Marner saying he is superior. But him and Nylander have roughly put up the same stats the past 2 years. There is not a 3 million $$$ difference in their play.

Krug as your top LD Bjugstad as 2C Varlamov out Trades with BOS FLA PHI
This proposal done is most def not done by an Avs fan. 100% no chance the Avs trade Zadarov, nevertheless they throw a promising young RHD as well as picks into the deal. 100% chance they DONT trade their 2019 1st rd and even if they did it would be lottery protected cause there is probably a 90% chance the Avalanche miss the playoffs last year. (so much went right last year just to get in the playoffs on the last day of the season).
I think the soonest they make a trade will be a the TDL and it will be Johnson (if healthy) or Barrie (an offer too good to refuse) if not or Varlamov( soon to be UFA), I think they wait till the 2019 offseason when they have 2 lottery picks int he 2019 draft and they have a better understanding on the kids (Jost, Kerfoot, Kamenev, Timmins, Makar, Shvyryov who is a big time sleeper prospect as well as other youngsters playing in the AHL.)
Joe Sakic has stressed they are getting younger.. They dont do that by trading valuable picks and young players just scratching the surface of their potential.

Skinner to Avs Yup
I dont see the Avalanche resigning Nemeth at all. We have 3 young defenders ready to break with the team. I could see us trading a VET like Barrie / Johnson make space once they prove their worth. We need secondary scoring but I dont see us going after Skinner or Keller with 2 possible top 10 picks in the 2019 draft.
I could see us going after a premier UFA like Panarin. A complete winger. Could theoretically take Landeskog's place since his contract would be up in 2 years at that time. And we could sell "high" on him. In the 2019 draft we could be adding 2 top 10 picks (i am still in the minority that thinks Colorado misses the playoffs and we all know about Ottawas issues)
2019 we could be adding: Makar, Timmins, Kaut, Shvyryov (sleeper), Kamenev (if he doesnt make the team this year), Bowers
Then you factor in one of: Hughes, Cozens, Podkolzin, Kakko, Dach all who could make the jump immediately.
You are getting yourself in trouble with the expansion draft by getting more people we would have to protect in Keller and Skinner and resigning Nemeth. I do think Barrie or Johnson will be traded for futures so we only have to protect 3 Dmen (Girard, Zadarov, Johnson or Barrie) ITs why I think Cole was given a 3 year deal so he could be left exposed

COnsidering Ottawa is ran by morons in the front office.. You may like to get this back. But in reality you will get magic beans and 6th rd picks.
Anderson is not worth much at his age and after his crappy year.
Stone cant sign an extension till Jan 1st.

Who Won the Karlsson Trade???
Our decent backup at goalie will be Pavel Francouz. He will spend the year in the AHL getting used to NA ice. He was the KHL goalie of the year. And he will cost less than 3.5 million.
Also for the 2019 draft. Its not Jack Hughes or bust. We need to come away with 2 Top line Forwards or 1 top line fwd and a LHD dman. And this draft is prime for it.
I think the Avalanche's own pick will be in the lottery as it took a lot of luck to make the playoffs. Everything went right with career years from lots of players. Everyone in the Central got better, we did nothing except change our a goalie.
I wont complain if we get 2 top 10 picks in this draft.
As for you extensions you gave out.. You were very kind. Kerfoot is not a 3.5 million player Zadarov will be closer to 4 million. Heck, Hanafin only got 4.9 over 6 years. Kamanev hasnt even played in the NHL but a few games. Unless he breaks out this year and puts up 50 points i could see him doing a 2 year 1.5 mil deal AAV.
I dont see Yost as a top line player. 2nd line at best. This is a big year for him. Would love for the Avs to go out and get Panarin. Sell him on Colorado.
