Marner is not worth 10 million. That is utter nonsense.

Nylander and Marner's advanced stats show they are essentially equal, Marner a slightly better playmaker and Nylander having the better shot. But they are both about the same. Plus if anyone is going to take a home town discount its going to be Marner not Nylander.

I agree. I keep seeing Toronto fans pump up Marner saying he is superior. But him and Nylander have roughly put up the same stats the past 2 years. There is not a 3 million $$$ difference in their play.

If Marner was a centre that would be a huge difference but he's also a winger and plays a very similar game. I actually think that Nylander has a higher ceiling than Marner but I am not sure he has the mindset to set himself apart. He'll be more like Kessel in Pittsburgh, Malkin and Crosby do the really hard work and Kessel just does his thing and score a tonne of points. Nylander won't have to be the leader but he'll score as much as the leadership group does.

Edmonton can not take on Nylander's contract unless salary goes back.
