If Ottawa wants to go in a new direction
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Sens problem is "the cap". They are at the cap and still finish out of the playoff.
Sanderson and Chabot make 8m. Norris 7m but often injured. Elvis 4m. Tkachuk is the only player they might get a good return without acquiring similar back in a trade.
IMO that is very fair trade for both teams. Three futures for the Sens (and good futures) plus 8m to spend on other player(s) immediately. Habs have future and cap. They could use their assets to acquire a player like Tkachuk. Like the comments above telling about Brady's shortcomings. You're never sure what he is gam</div></div>
Thanks for sharing a positive perspective!
I can see this working out for Ottawa, but I would think ownership would have to step in. If it's ever gonna happen, it's gonna happen soon, since the new ownership might have a different vision.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StutzlesNumber1Fan</b></div><div>Nope. I wouldn't trade Brady to Montreal and not for #5 or #6 in this class as it's weak. #5 next year maybe i'd have a different opinion. Understood. I'd love to see what Iginla could do on Ottawa though. Who do you think the Sens are targeting?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>I feel like Tkachuk has become so overrated, especially recently
Guy's never preformed when it mattered most, he consistently starts off slow, and when Ottawa gets basically knocked out, that's when he produces a ton...
(66 point pace in 1rst half, Ottawa gets put at the bottom, so no more expectation, 82 point pace)</div></div>
I am not sure about that. Like Slafkovsky, the package is really rare. I believe you need players like Tkachuk to win in the playoffs. You think Marchand is playing the Leafs like a fiddle? Just want until Brady does his thing.

As the captain of the team the dude doesn't even try on defense and it rubs off on others. He sits at the blue line and prays to god he can get a breakaway pass consistently. Offensively he is a great player and the team loves him, but his defensive effort really bothers me in games.</div></div>
So... Then you'll take my deal?

Fair point. I wouldn't trade him. I just tried to come up with a "fair" return if they did.

Ooof. Dropping Gallagher for a minute (cause that's a non-starter) Guhle & Beck for Marner could have legs.
I think Guhle is the kind of defender they want/need but they might prefer someone other than Beck like a Xhekaj/Engstrom to compliment the deal.

That's a nice DCore sir! Still need a goalie, though (no offense).

3 years of 5.5 + 1 year of 4.45 does not make sense to take on Skinner. If Skinner would have 1-2 years left sure. They can send Anderson to the minors at the start of the year to save cap room.</div></div>
I disagree. Habs need scoring. Skinner still has some juice left and honestly getting 2 players off the roster opens up opportunities to let rookies make the team.

They need young defensemen near NHL ready and this accomplishes that</div></div>
I doubt they win the series with the Bruins. Swayman is looking really strong. If Ullmark makes an appearance next game, I think the Leafs have a shot. Not sure what Montgomery is thinking with this 2 goalie rotation. At least make it "win and you're in, y'know?"
Anyway I think the Leafs need to consider some serous changes. The Habs deal here is probably not right, but moving Tavares & Marner for defense and goaltending and some secondary scoring (easier said than done for sure) is probably the right thing.

I feel Reinbacher is ahead of Mesar and has a lot more upside, but I'm optimistic on him and see Reinbacher as netting out as somewhere between Seider & Josi.

I think giving up 2 x potentially elite players for 1 is too much. The risk if both players hit is too high.

We are talking about a guy who scored at a 100 point pace for the past 4 seasons and is a Selke finalist. He's not just some offensive winger. He's an elite talent. He would immediately become the best player in Montreal but a wide margin and you want him for 2 nothing pieces and a first in a weak draft. This does not help TO win now, you know this. And pretending it isn't the case doesn't make you look good.</div></div>
None of that has anything to do with the fact that YOU made this personal and attacked me personally, not my post. I did not make this post in "bad faith" to piss anyone off. Claiming I did was a mischaracterization and you should apologize, or at the very least, admit it.

Interesting offer, but I think two top 5-6 picks is too much, even for Marner.
The defenseman you could choose 6OA this season will be your top defender in 3 years.
Alternatively, would you consider removing the 6OA and adding Reinbacher? I doubt the Habs do that, but just wondering if a "sure thing" makes the existing offer more palatable?

Adding to my previous point:
A 6OA pick, a former 1st entering his D+3 season who is looking like he will become a top 6 player in the NHL, and a former 2nd who has established himself as an NHL defender at age 22. That's hardly a crappy offer...
