This would be a great acceleration move. Who cares about Lindstrom when you have Tkachuk?

Détails additionnels:
There is no present for present deal to be had between these teams, the only deal that makes sense is if the Sens want futures for Brady so they can take a step back and retool since their group is relatively young. I'm not sure they do, but the rebuild has not gone in the direction they hoped and maybe they feel they don't have the right mix.

Brady is a top line power forward and can perfectly compliment the existing group we have in place

Fair point. I wouldn't trade him. I just tried to come up with a "fair" return if they did.

I am a leaf fan... and I would trade Marner for him... but If i were Ottawa, Brady drives that bus like Matthew does in FLA... OTT just has different problems.

I feel like Tkachuk has become so overrated, especially recently

Guy's never preformed when it mattered most, he consistently starts off slow, and when Ottawa gets basically knocked out, that's when he produces a ton...

(66 point pace in 1rst half, Ottawa gets put at the bottom, so no more expectation, 82 point pace)

My issue is his defense. As the captain of the team the dude doesn't even try on defense and it rubs off on others. He sits at the blue line and prays to god he can get a breakaway pass consistently. Offensively he is a great player and the team loves him, but his defensive effort really bothers me in games.

I am not sure about that. Like Slafkovsky, the package is really rare. I believe you need players like Tkachuk to win in the playoffs. You think Marchand is playing the Leafs like a fiddle? Just want until Brady does his thing.

Nope. I wouldn't trade Brady to Montreal and not for #5 or #6 in this class as it's weak. #5 next year maybe i'd have a different opinion. If he ever got moved we'd prob need a stud young player coming back + picks though as we're not really in a position to wait for a few years on a prospect.

Understood. I'd love to see what Iginla could do on Ottawa though. Who do you think the Sens are targeting?

I have a feeling you guys might snag Iginla before us or Calgary lol. Personally I want Catton or Lindstrom.

Sens problem is "the cap". They are at the cap and still finish out of the playoff.
Sanderson and Chabot make 8m. Norris 7m but often injured. Elvis 4m. Tkachuk is the only player they might get a good return without acquiring similar back in a trade.
IMO that is very fair trade for both teams. Three futures for the Sens (and good futures) plus 8m to spend on other player(s) immediately. Habs have future and cap. They could use their assets to acquire a player like Tkachuk. Like the comments above telling about Brady's shortcomings. You're never sure what he is game to game

Thanks for sharing a positive perspective!

I can see this working out for Ottawa, but I would think ownership would have to step in. If it's ever gonna happen, it's gonna happen soon, since the new ownership might have a different vision.

There are so many different types of those players... He's not worth what Sens fans want for him... He doesn't preform when his team has any expectation, when would he preform when his team has the most expectation

Marchand's annoyance is more-so because it's a reminder of older Leafs teams... The 3 things that have set me off recently with him were:

1. Cheap shot on Lilly - even angrier the team didn't do anything
2. Cheap shooting Bert and Knies - But that's also near or playoff hockey, can't really get mad at that
3. The jostling thing that didn't get them each 2 mins for roughing, took Bert out of the play - again, not as angry at Marchand as I'm at Sammy for not getting the save and the refs for not calling McAvoy or the Marchand thing, either would have prevented the goal

Tkachuk's a fake tough guy that only goes at players he views as a non-fighter

It bothers me that his defence is an issue and his inconsistent scoring... Again, why is it that when his team had expectation, he was preforming at a 66 pts pace? And as soon as the halfway point hit (Team was near the bottom), that's when he played better...

That rubs off the team... That's why I think he's overrated by Sens fans

Once he got onto a line with Pinto and Batherson he started scoring much more. And our powerplay was legit dogcrap the whole season which hurt his PPG. Next season I expect our lines, and powerplay to be more consistent which will allow him to flourish offensively.

He's consistently like that though... Always underperforms when OTT has expectations, then overpreforms when they don't
