Pretty bold to state Toronto could offer more when they have no second rounder for the next 3 drafts.

Then you sign new guys to 1 year deals and trade them at the TD. Keep recycling until you don't have too. Instead KD signs overpaid depth players to multi-year deals and it achieves nothing.

Spending money on quality veteran free agents without anchoring to term, and keeping all the draft capital banked away is a good compromise towards continuing the rebuild and trying to be more competitive for the players' and team's sake.</div></div>
I mean, they will be dangerous when Weber/Little/Voracek return ;-)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WallStreet83</b></div><div>I voted no for the 7 years but here's the thing: players like Wilson don't grow on trees. He's a big, skilled power forward who brings character and leadership and can bully and intimidate other teams which is something not many NHL players can do in this era.
It's likely going to age poorly because of his injury history but the Caps are going to have a lot of cap space in the near future. Let's face facts: every team in the league would love to have a Tom Wilson on their team, especially after seeing how Vegas steamrolled their way to a Stanley Cup.</div></div>
Physicality does not equal success. The most physical teams last year were, in order, Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Nashville, Philadelphia, New York Islanders and Arizona. Vegas was 14th.
They were 12th of the 16 playoff teams for hits/60 in the postseason.
I have no idea what Vegas' Cup win has to do with Tom Wilson. I don't see a connection.

I'm pretty sure there were "character" issues/concerns leading to him being dumped by all of Tampa, Arizona, and the nyr despite playing well on the ice. I don't know about anything from Philly one way or the other. Apparently torts was dissatisfied with his play on the ice.
But yeah the character concerns have clear origins

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vmark</b></div><div>The way he was portrayed in the media, as racist and whatnot, was a witch hunt scenario due to his political beliefs. I didn't say the Rangers bought him out because of his political views, but they were also under pressure from the media after it came out that he made fun of Georgiev, or whatever.
The Rangers suck though. Let's not forget Trouba is their captain and both Kakko and Lafreniere are busts.
Plenty of his teammates have gone on record saying he is a good teammate. Carolina just signed him again... not at 5M a year though.
I see nothing wrong here and I think he gets too much hate from people on the internet who have no idea what they're talking about.</div></div>
He was suspended twice in junior for making racist or otherwise discriminatory comments against both opposition and teammates. Here is a link from his own team suspending him for it (https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors/deangelo-on-scouts-radar-for-wrong-reasons/)
The rangers decided they couldn't put up with him anymore. Here is there gm:
"You know what, Tony wasn't able to move on from that; it was something that he was trying to get through," Gorton said. "I had spoken to him at that time and said, 'Listen, if there are any more issues here, the time is going to come where we're going to put you on waivers and move on. No more issues. If your name is in anything at all that we have to hear, we're going to move on. We're going to make that move.'
https://www.nhl.com/news/tony-deangelo-of-new-york-rangers-clears-waivers/c-320927558
He was also scratched 8 times in the ahl in his rookie season despite being quite productive and then traded for pennies on the dollar to Arizona. It was rumoured to be for behavior but of course it is just rumours this time
I don't know if people tried to make him into a political scapegoat or something, but this isn't about him being conservative or who he votes for. It's about a repeated pattern of being a bad egg.

1. In Philly the source of the drama should be obvious
2. How long have you been watching hockey? His off ice issue were well documented

When. you (not you personally) attack someone's character, there should be specific evidence, no? The only thing I remember from NY was a fight with Georgiev and an internet hoax involving K'Andre Miller. Nothing I've seen or heard tells me the Phi buyout had anything to do with off-ice issues. It seemed to be a hockey decision. Seems to. me like he has a history of underperformance, not character issues.</div></div>
It's unlikely we'll ever get the full details of any incident until many years later in biographies and the like, but there is a lot of smoke of teams wanting nothing to do with him. Reportedly Tampa wanted to dump his rights for character reasons. As above NYR wanted him out of the organization and not even playing with their ahl team. That suggests there are issues with who he is. If you're looking for incontrovertible proof you won't be able to find it. But there is a lot of smoke here to use the analogy you mentioned earlier

The Rangers waived him in 2021 in February because of too many incidents and wouldn't even let him near their ahl team. They bought him out when able in July. This is not some witch hunt against conservative people. They wanted him out of their organization.
Similarly Tampa dumped him to zona despite him looking like a quality prospect for off ice concerns reportedly.

The Kraken get at least four more years of their best LHD who has blossomed into a legitimate top-pairing defenseman during his time in Seattle. Vince Dunn's play and his partnership with Adam Larsson have been critical to Seattle's success, and I'm excited to see him continue work his on-ice magic in a Kraken uniform for many years to come!</div></div>
