As an Oilers fan, I love it. It's not as bad as the Dubois contract, but I'm happy to see Pacific division rivals signing inefficient contracts.</div></div>
You may be right, but for a team that has Darnell Nurse and Jack Campbell locked for what they bring, I'm not sure if Oilers fans would be the right people to make that statement.

Extending the best player in franchise history as soon as possible hardly seems that concerning.

Regardless - the options available are still bad for no reason. They easily could have waited. There was zero chance of this contract being higher than budgeted</div></div>

35+ Year Old Rule for Cap Counting
CBA §50.5(d)(i)(B)(5) shall have no application to a multi-year SPC that has: (1) total compensation (Player Salary and Bonuses) that is either the same as or increases from one League Year to the immediately subsequent League Year, and (2) a Signing Bonus, if any, that is payable in the first year of the SPC only.
So yes, the Kings can buy out Kopitar's contract just like any other contract and get the full cap relief that any other contract would.

In the return to play MOU signed in 2020, the league did away with the 35+ drawbacks for multi-year contracts that are not front loaded.
Maybe you should "get it" before you start throwing shade.

The CEO fired a whistleblower who said the sub was unsafe. This is as close to suicide as you can get without someone intentionally killing themself. I don't have sympathy for someone dying after they were warned what they were doing was going to kill them. I have more sympathy for the whistleblower who lost their job. They were punished for doing the right thing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>worldwidesensei</b></div><div>People on CapFriendly are all over the place. Tage scores 38 goals in a season and people don't think he deserves $7.14mm/year. Boldy scores 27 career goals and they think this is a good deal.
In a vacuum, I think this is a good deal, but MIN has some serious cap issues in the next couple years. Surprised they went this big with Boldy already. Not due to talent, just purely due to their cap situation.</div></div>
By age 21, Tage Thompson had played 106 games and recorded 21 points. Boldy is currently at 89 games with 68 points at age 21. When Tage signed his deal there was a lot of skepticism that he would reproduce the season he just had considering his previous track record. It's not that people are "all over the place", it's that people often vote in context at the time of a signing.

There's a lot of really ignorant comments both on here and on Twitter of people who have clearly never seen him play.
Hintz is so very important to Dallas. It isn't even just the goals and points, he's a fast as hell skater and plays a 200ft game. He kills penalties, blocks shots, takes the body.
If he played in a bigger market people would not be saying the things they're saying. This contract is not a steal but it's far from an overpay. I hate to take a shot at other team's players but look at what Barzal got, look at what Marner makes and tell me how this is an overpay.
