While Strbek may be a future NHL RHD, Faulk fills a hole now!
His contract expires in 3 years just when the new wave of young guns ELC's expire.
If Faulk would wave the Sabres should close deal.
The Blues fans have not voiced an opinion yet.

For Bogdan Konyushkov or David Reinbacher but not for Mailloux!
At least they have a comparable upside.
Buffalo could add for Reinbacher if needed.

Sort of similar to drafting pick the best player available (which the Sabres seem to be doing).
Now that Monahan is off the table, the price for Casey just went up.
If Seattle keeps slipping they could TDL sellers.
Obviously Borgan would be good fit, but Larsson may be better.
Adams is risk adverse and in nearly 4 years as GM he has only traded away assets.
Last year adding Chychrun at the TDL would made a difference.
This year Drysdale and a second for Kulich was possible.

First, Buffalo does not need nor want to trade their leading scorer.
Second, the Linholm trade set the bar for a base return, this is less. Kuzmenko has a brighter future than, Johanson so is not so he is a pure cap dump. Brzustewicz is better than Olausson. The 2nd is better than a 4th but Jarmo was included.
Third, Casey is the real deal. He is strong along the boards, a good skater and play-maker.
Fourth, he is the team's leading scorer while Lindholm was Calgary's fourth, he is an RFA v UFA, has more pts (101 v 96) over the past two seasons, he four years younger and his career is on the upswing Lindholm seems to be regressing (is he injured).
Fifth, Buffalo may want to trade him to save cap and give a roster spot to a prospect.
Bottom line, you will not like this, if you replace Olausson with Ritchie, keep the 2nd as payment for taking Johanson's salary for an extra year and add a Jormo equivalent with Ahcan but Buffalo may still say no as they would want an NHL top 4 RHD if they traded Casey instead of futures.

As a Sabre fan I could only dream of Casey centering Pettersson and Taffoli.
Casey would a point a game center, setting up those two.
If that package was offered to Adams and he turned down he should be replaced.

Look how coaching affected Skinner!
With this Buffalo has three chances of at least braking even.
Kuzmenko could (should) return to being a scoring machine.
The first (may have to add assets) should get a good RHD.
Vancouver traded Horvat and used the assets to get hronek.
Buffalo could do the same.
Hunter Brzustewicz could turn into a top 4 RHD.
Unlikely that not one of the 3 would be a winner.
Actually it is more likely all three would produce positive results.
If this package was offered to Adams and he turned it down, he should be replaced immediately.

Joni Jurmo · $0 (AHL/JR) (Signing Rights)
Hunter Brzustewicz · $0 (AHL/JR) (Signing Rights)
2024 1st round pick (VAN)
2024 4th round pick (VAN) [Conditional
With a different coach (a players coach aka Granoto) Kuzmenko should return to the scoring machine he was last year.
We replace Casey with Andrie this year (I know a wing for center is not the same), use the first and other assets to pry a RHD from a team looking for futures.
Helps now and in the future.
Colorado traded Newhook for 31st and 37th OA then traded the 37th to get Colton.
Buffalo could have done something similar.
Casey should have had more value than Lindholm.

Sure if you compare a mature Laughton to a young Krebs.
Comparing Scott's first 190 gm (19 g 47 pts) to Krebs 182 gm (19 g 58 pt) will reveal a different viewpoint.
Payton is playing 4th line minutes with 4th line players.
I will keep my young Payton and the picks over your mature Scott who has a salary triple that of Payton.

Jordan is not available because Granato would have cow if his Jordan was traded.
If you want a big body Erik Robinson may be available.
He has more hits and pts per 60 than Greenway and would cost significantly less than a 2nd.

Quinn, Power, and Peterka.
Oh yes an overpaid Greenway (really a 2nd and 5th for him @ $3,000,000) and Robinson.
He over paid to sign both Bryson ($1,850,000 to play for Rochester) and Olofsson ($4,750,000 to sit in press box or on the bench).

Mittelstadt, Casey => Colton, Ross plus Wood, Miles
The balance:
Okposo, Kyle
Jokiharju, Henri
Krebs, Peyton
Kulich, Jiri
2024 2nd round pick (BUF) appears it will be in 40 OA or better.
Over all they have more value than
Byram, Bowen
Buffalo is trading the better center and GK, it's best forward prospect and an early 2nd for Colton who was just picked up for the 37th OA, Wood who essentially let go by the Devils, a sub NHL GK and a good LHD they do not need.
Byrum may be a good LHD but Buffalo has others better than he, while Buffalo has to trade its best RHD in the deal.
Buffalo would be adding at least a year to the rebuild if they made this trade, losing their best center, GK, prospect and RHD.
Horrible for the Sabres.
I understand that Wood and Colton are physical but Mittelstadt's offense would more than compensate.
Rip me apart if wish, I am done with this post.

Thank you all for great feedback.
While I like all the trades other ACGM's inspired the fist two.
Mitts could be traded just to make space next year.
If he is traded he will be traded for a player (s) who would fill holes in the line up, i.e. RHD.
We can discuss the pro's and con's of each trade but that could last until the TDL, so I will skip it.
While cap is always an issue with adding a player with a cap as Truba, but Casey's new contract and Clifton's current nearly equal his Cap next year.
The cap goes up $4,000,000, another $6,500,000 will be added if Girgensons, Okposo and Robinson are not signed enough to offer Quinn and Peterka nearly $6,500,000 each.
Trouba comes off the following year and Skinner's contract expires when Kulich, Savoie and Rosen ELC END.
OF COURSE, the devil is in the detail, but cap space is not an issue for several years.

As you can see other Sabre fan are adamant not to trade Casey for futures.
They will surely skewer me for this.
Those futures can be used to fill in the holes in Buffalo's line up.
Just as on draft day successful teams take the best player available. This is the best deal available.
Replace Aman with Kuzmenko, I agree his contract would be difficult to move.

Well you got this Sabre's fan attention.
In the Flyer trade, do you value Kuzmenko as an asset or include to get cap relief or neither just neutral?
Add Kuzmenko while dropping Aman and I would say yes to the deal.
