Trying hard to move up to 4 per reports
Probably what the package was concerning our needs as well but I’m glad we passed. Long term success and all that.

Sure from cbj. Gives him a chance to actually play and clears some of our logjam.

That is fine, just poking to poke. Trading those two away right now would’ve been a massive mistake tbh.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>If Demidov is available at 4OA, I don't think Columbus passes on him. We desperately need a player like that, too. If he was, and MTL is set on him, I think it costs more than this (like, swap which side the 3rd is on, swap Harris for Barron).
If it shakes down like that, I'd want CBJ to use the WPG 1st to grab McGroarty ourselves. Essentially from CBJ's perspective: Demidov for Lindstrom (or Silayev), McGroarty, Barron, and a 3rd. He looks to be so much better than next best player available, that's more in line with the cost to move up. Would be a trade while CBJ is on the clock.</div></div>
My thought on the second pick too.
We get our 2c for the future at 5oa in Lindstrom then
Use the second first and our 36th to the jets for rutger.

Boston should 100 percent be in on rutger. They have some holes and using the first from the ullmark trade as a base should be a decent start. He would be a great fit on that team and when it’s time to retool, will help speed the process along.

I would do that trade from cbj if both Demidov and Lindstrom are available at 4. We get whichever Montreal passes on. Deal

MY 32 Blue Jackets for 24-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Using Johnson to move Laine is like Montreal using Slaf to move Anderson. Just...why? That's not what a rebuilding team would do, ever.
Marchenko gets significantly more, and Brindley starts the season in the AHL (and is probably a winger at the NHL level), but the rest isn't bad at all. I don't see Columbus signing multiple depth forwards with such a crowded forward core as-is.</div></div>
Now I know gudbranson will kill him when he arrives on day one of training camp but I don’t hate brining in cousins. We need a rat and that could be a cheap one to get. (But I agree too many depth forwards as is)

Also I want nothing to do with marner. He doesn’t waive to come here or extend here. We don’t need another pass first forward making 9.75 plus.

Alittle late on the ullmark trade. Plus it looks like he didn’t hold as much value as we all thought. Which isn’t super shocking as goalies tend to not have much value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>This is well thought out. Nothing spectacular, but solild. Both trades feel fair, if underwhelming for both sides. I'd prefer to sign Brenden Dillon for the open LHD spot but I like signing Gryz instead just fine. Stephenson probably gets more either term or AAV, but good target if they are going to sign a free agent forward. I like the RFA deals, too.</div></div>
Thank you.
I struggled with the Stephenson signing the most tbh. He’s already 30 and offering more term than 4 gets dicy. I would probably go up to 5.25x 5 years but not any more tbh.
I like the Dillon suggestion and it was between him and gryz, gryz has that spitfire energy and is coming from that Boston locker room which is important when trying to rebuild the culture of a team.

The first trade involving laine and soup that isn’t terrible.
With our retention and taking back a 4.5m dollar third liner for 2 years.
This package makes it worth it for Columbus.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ansabch12</b></div><div>He's still an NHL caliber defenceman on the last year of his deal on a movable contract, the only reason a team wouldn't want a good option top 4 dman is because they can't handle the fact that he may have a different opinion and set of values than they do, which I guess is impossible in this day and age.</div></div>
He also has a mental lapse in the dzone every other game. So there are legitimate concerns with his game that are overblown at times but should be addressed.

We don’t have money for another overpaid goalie. He will honestly be good in Boston, I think they hang onto him.

From the sound of it, we want a trade done sooner rather than later. Unless we have no takers.
The team also wants to clear money out to make room for extensions, that graves contract will be a hinderance on the long term plans.

Johnson isn’t a throw in on a laine trade.
He needs to take a step forward and become stronger but he should be a top line player if he hits his potential which he does have a good chance of doing if he does get stronger

Lack of need, cost or is provorov not good at hockey? He is a very polarizing player on and off the ice. Just curious where you’re coming from.

If the blue jackets are to move provorov would y’all be interested in him? It would probably cost a second for half retained?
Gryz at least doubles that contract on the open market so he may be a nice stop gap for y’all.
