Trading For Skinner
Sweeney: "hey david, its don, I know you have a full no movement clause, but would you be willing to waive to go to Carolina?"
Backes: "Absolutely not don."
Sweeney: great, thanks david, I think you'll really like it there.
Backes: wait, I said no....
click
Sweeney: Hey Waddell, how would you like to trade me jeff skinner, for a stealing pile of dog **** cap dump, a D grade prospect, and a bottom pairing D man, and a late second round pick?
Waddell: Absolutely not, for Skinner I would need either Carlo or Debrusk, and a first round pick to get the conversation started.
Sweeney: Well hold on, it's not that easy, you need to give us a pick back.
Waddell: what is wrong with you?
Are you serious with that skinner offer?

Karlsson + Ryan
The retainage is almost equal on both sides. What's the point?
What value is going back to OTT here? Besides 3 picks.

Personally, if I was Ottawa, I would do it straight up for their own pick, but that would look bad publicly. A near guaranteed top 5 pick is the best they're going to do for a year of Karlsson, dealing from a position of weakness where everyone knows they have to trade him IMO.</div></div>
I agree with you but all these Ottawa fans are expecting the world... just read that Dallas is the front runner and the trade is drew shore, Julias honka and their 1st rounder... not taking back Bobby ryan,
Comparatively that's like Colorado's first, soderberg and Duncan Siemens

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ekpaul87</b></div><div>That's definitely a fair point, but even a late first is still a good asset for two years worth of cap space that isn't going to be used anyway. I would think there would be one of the 16 teams that would take that deal.
If you couldn't move one of them this summer, you could move Killorn instead.</div></div>
Killorn also has a NTC lol. Seems like Stevie Y loves dishing out those!

They might be able to adjust the pick conditional to a re-sign, but he has a limited NMC, they’re not going to get “fair value” in a trade if they do move him.

Seems pretty fair. I think most teams will want something "conditional" though. I really think Panarin wants to test the market. It's not like he's 22 years old. He'll be ~28 entering into his new contract so this will likely be his ONLY big contract...and I really couldn't blame him.

What Else To Fix The Flames
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>looks like Frolik is on the 3rd line and Bennett is on the 4th. Your overselling Okposo’s injury history. He had one big problem at the end of the prior season and it was his doctors fault not his</div></div>
OK, good to know on the injury front. It all seemed quite bad when I was following via media at the time.
Issue is, Frolik and Okposo have very similar career production anyways. Frolik is cheaper by $1.7M. Frolik already works well on 2nd line with Backlund and Tkachuk (together, they were one of the top possession lines in the league last year; certainly one of the most effective 2nd lines, great for tough matchups). Same age as Okposo. And you're trying to convince Treliving to give you Bennett on top of that?
And I haven't even referenced the 5 years remaining on Okposo's big contract. Or the Modified NTC that will really hurt the Flames come Seattle expansion time.
That all adds up to a straightforward, "no thanks". Treliving wouldn't do Okposo for Frolik in a 1-for-1.

yeah thats true but I'm taking into account power play minutes which ovi plays d so assuming caps get 2 pp a game thats 4 minutes off and a few other factors would play into this.....but realistically i guess saying 10-12 would be more accurate either way my point was that they should be ready to handle the 3rd pairing minutes

Calgary?
The absolute hardest of no's, Monahan is worth both those guys by himself, and even then if we lose him we are in the same situation as MTL now, we would be scrambling for a first line C. No need to make a hole to find a scoring winger.

Tear it down
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claebom</b></div><div>The other side of that thinking, though, is that while Jack Hughes' ceiling is much higher than Hoffman's there's only a 15-20% chance of actually getting him and then the chance he doesn't actually turn out; the latter is obviously very unlikely, but there's always a chance (ahem, Daigle). Instead with a trade like this, you get a 100% chance of having a top line winger who, with the right linemates (and not Tom Pyatt and J.G. Pageau), could likely hit 30 goals. I do agree that Stone is probably the better fit given his age and position, but he's also going to cost an arm and a leg in comparison. He's bordering on becoming a recognized star in the league who just finished the season over a point a game on a garbage team, so unless the Avs are ready to pay up or they have Adam Larsson lying around (cause apparently that's the price for star wingers) Stone is completely untouchable.
I think the deal is close for both teams. The Avs get a late first, a late third and a top line 25+ G, 50-60 P winger with pedigree who is absolutely dynamite on the PP (albeit slightly older than ideal but can help them compete right now) and the Sens get a young middle 6 player who came off a great year, however much of it was based on unsustainable percentages (his shooting percentage was through the roof), and their original pick which will likely be in the top 5 and give them a chance at another great prospect to add to their pipeline. I think the Sens add a bit more but it's pretty close.</div></div>
Hughes is suppose to be better than Matthews. Thats why the pick is worth so much

Hamilton to ARI + TOR + WSH
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clark</b></div><div>doesn't seem to be arizona's way of doing business, taking on all that cap, especially brouwer's for no reason, even lazar is easily replaced, so do the near bottom arizona want to give up a prospect for a few years of Hamilton</div></div>
3 years of a 24 year old right shot dman at $5.75M...? This is the best asset by a mile in the deal.
Brouwer at $3.0M for 2 years is readily tradeable. ARI could retain $0.5M and likely get back a 3rd round pick from a team like VAN. Plus, Hjarlmarsson contract heads back to CGY here. In the end, ARI could wind up only having an extra $1.5-2M on the books after these deals. And they get Hamilton.
I believe that Chayka would be very interested in this deal to strengthen the blue line for years to come. I think that the OEL extension talk at $8.25M is all you need to know about how valuable Hamilton is on his current deal. And, I wouldn't be surprised if Chayka did a sign-and-trade with OEL, whereby the contract at $8.25M is used to over-inflate OEL's perceived value around the league. That's dang near Subban money. For a much lesser player.
Quite a few good reasons for ARI to be interested in a deal like this where they get the best player.

Fla and NYI trade
Although Bjugstad is a RW, I wouldn't say he's an elite one and so the trade of both Bennett and Dube is a big loss for the Flames, because I believe Bennett is still improving and Dube will be an effective middle 6er probably this season. Are we really gaining anything over having Ferland as 1RW, outside of a RHS? Throwing in Fox and a 4th for a 2018 1st rounder (15 OA) also seems like a big gamble, unless there was some insider info leading you to believe we could not sign Fox.
As for Brodie, although we MIGHT make out fine with the picks in 2-3 years, he should be used in a hockey trade to get that top-level RW we need now.

You are right. Here's my counter-proposal:
CGY 2018 4th rounder for Neurvith
Might even be willing to throw another 4th in there in goodwill. Nevertheless, CGY gets the much-needed backup tender they've been looking for all these years, without giving up their best young prospect

Haha, that is not an overpayment it is a garbage offer. Tkachuk is already better than Simmonds and he's 19 on an ELC still.
Rubtsov had his numbers regress in junior as a 19 year old. That's always a great sign. You can keep him.
Neuvirth has barely any value. Maybe a mid round pick at best.
But hey, the 3rd rounder almost swayed me lol.
Garbage. Offer.

Just because Rubtsov was drafted in the first round doesn't make a good prospect.
Neuvirth is just a body, there's is no value in 30-year-old back-ups.
So essentially it's Simmonds (a pending UFA) for Tkachuk and a cap dump in Brouwer (Which isn't even that bad of a contract).
Hard no from the flames.

Middle ground....trade him between December and Trade Deadline when someone has a top4 get hurt and panicks ro make the playoffs
