Getting a 1st for helping Cap Crunched Teams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>willinlisbon</b></div><div>I knew this would turn into a habfan hate fest
love it how people just want to crap on ideas rather than offering constructive criticism.
Obviously, EVERYONE HATER on here has higher knowledge than those who live and work hockey 24/7.
READ THE ARTICLES I POSTED ON THE LINKS. This is from people who ALL THEY DO IS FOLLOW HOCKEY FOR A LIVING>>>>>> NOT FANS LIKE US who think we know what we're talking or posting about.
CHI trade is based on Chicago GM own words stating that he'd like to get a first AND that they would consider moving Dach.
For a 1st, prospect, and proven scorer roster player - that's as good as CHI will get....
The MIN trade is completely based on the fact that Guerin himself has mentioned needing to clear cap space and DOESN'T mind parting with his 1st rd draft pick in order to do so.
Dumba is 6M worth that can REALLY help the wild if off the books to sign Fiala.
Adding in Drouin with salary retention is to allow the wild to remain competitive on ice at a lower cost.
PHI trade is also rumoured speculation that the Flyers would like to go in on Gaudreau (and Gaudrea as well being from South Jersey) to bring him home.
In order for this to happen, cap space needs to be cleared for them and JVR is the first logical choice at 7 MIL/year (1 year remaining). Which can go to signing Johny Hockey.
ARI trade for Weber for a 2nd has been overly reported on since before TDL and conitnues.
What else y'all got? that you think you're more informed and knowledgeable than HOCKEY WRITERS?</div></div>
LOL!!! Have you ever read some hockey writers trade proposals?!! They're laughably bad and this is from guys who have been covering the NHL for years!
These comments aren't from Habs haters, your trades suggested here are just bad and miss the mark by a lot.

Getting a 1st for helping Cap Crunched Teams
-I can't see Chicago trading a recent 3OA pick who's still just 21 years old for a cap dump, a mid tier prospect that's actually a year older than Dach, and a late 1st.
-You *might* get Dumba for Drouin retained & the Edmonton 2nd; you're going to have to add a lot to get their 1st. They can get a dozen better offers if they made Dumba available for trade.
-Weber to Arizona makes sense, I just think 34 OA is too rich a price to pay for the Coyotes. Set your sights lower.
-I can't see Philadelphia unloading a top 5 pick just to get 1 year of JVR off their books. He rebounded enough to put in 24 goals this season so he's still somewhat useful, and he's only being paid $5M against a $7M cap hit. I could see a cap floor team just absorbing his deal for a 3rd/4th rounder, or the Flyers just keep him and flip him out with 50% retention at the deadline. Unless the Flyers are going to be completely unrealistic, I think they realize they need at least a retool and trading a top 5 pick would be lunacy when they don't *need* to clear that cap space.
-The Rangers, however, do need to be mindful of their cap constraints this summer and even though this is an overpay, I think they look to re-sign Ryan Strome or Andrew Copp before they downgrade to Dvorak.
-Somehow this is worse than the Philly trade? You've now taken the 5th overall pick and Jeff Petry and sent them both to Dallas for an okay-to-good prospect and a 36 year old goalie coming off hip surgery that, in the best case scenario, has him back and moving around in late September.

We don't have a spot for Drouin in our top 9, even if the Wild move on from Fiala the organization believes (based on Guerin's comments) that Rossi would take his spot in the top 6. So we're moving a player that plays top pairing minutes for us AND a 1st for a guy who would be on our 4th line and a 2nd? Makes no sense for us

Arizona aren't giving you picks for Weber's contract. And definitely not our own 2nd. If you want to trade his contract, you'll have to give us a 2nd or other picks.

Sorry but that Minnesota trade is laughable, they can get a good return for Dumba without adding a 1st round pick.

When Markstrom signed with Calgary, He let be known that he wouldn't play for a rebuilding team. So he's not going to waive his NMC for Buffalo.

Not enough for the Veznia contender Markstrom, this team sucks. Not even close to enough for Tanev. Remove 2 mill on Mangiapanes contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>He's not right mentally. When Edmonton got knocked out of the playoffs in 2016-17 he went through the handshake line saying "I will F****** kill you". I'm sorry but that's not the guy you want to toss into a young locker room. But it doesn't matter because Detroit isn't on his 8 team trade list.</div></div>
Yeah I know Lucic is a loose cannon. But he actually had a decent season for Caigary. He's been quite tame (for him anyways) the past few years. He's a good nuclear deterrent. Opponents are much less brave when the caveman is sitting on the bench. Good for guys like Larkin and Raymond especially.
I know Stevie is big on character. But remember. We once tolerated a young Sean Avery many years ago. Until Kenny shipped him out as part of the Mathieu Schneider trade. Not all of our players have been saints and angels either.
I can't see Caigary making this trade anyway. And as you said, he won't waive for Detroit. With Gaudreau leaving as a UFA they'll need Mango's scoring.

Giving up an unprotected 1st in the Bedard draft after finishing bottom 10 the year before is a real risky move. I know they are expected to be better this year but that could come back to haunt them

I wouldn't say Strome is out of favour anymore. He was with Stan and the old management but I'm keen to see what KD decides for the team this off season and if and who gets traded. Unfortunately I can see a lineup without Kubalik, we are selling low if we do.
What is wrong with Kerfoot? Im seeing a lot of Leafs ACGM moving him?

Calgary definitely says no, Calgary does not have a ton of money relative to what needs to be resigned. Calgary can probably manage to dump Lucic or Monahan with an early draft pick in order to prioritize some of the resigning they need to do.

Just because Murphy plays on the top pair in Chicago doesn’t make him a top pair dman. He’s fine, steady, not great. He’s a slightly above average second pair dman.
