Description
Check the trades and descriptions I gave and THEN come read the rest of this description.

I have no idea what to do with Muzzin. Injury prone, had a disastrous regular season, but looked like a legit top 4D in the playoffs. If we get that version of him I have no problem keeping him and rotating him and Giordano in the lineup for load management, but more moves to my version of this team would have to be made to make us cap compliant for that. We could also pull a Tampa Bay and keep him on the sidelines until playoffs (similar to what he did this season anyways). I would also try and package Kerfoot and (significant) assets to get JT Miller at the deadline depending on what Vancouver's situation is by then (I think they will make playoffs so it's a bit of a long shot).

All in all, I think these are the moves you can TRY to start with. I think Gibson is our "Kawhi Move" and I think we can get him back to being a top 5 goalie in this league because he has a track record of being that when on a playoff team. However, I have NO IDEA what to do with that 4th line. It's awful imo, but I think we could develop within and maybe put some of our AHL guys in that spot or Dubas might find some solid bottom 6 guys in free agency for cheap. I love our 3rd line though but I think we need depth because I don't really see Kase staying healthy for a full 82 games. Comment any flaws I've got in this team and if I over/underpaid for any of the trades (on either side).

With Letang very likely leaving, the Pens can get a good 3rd pair RHD (yes, he is still a good THIRD pair RHD), at a pretty cheap cost and the Leafs can recoup a pick in the 2022 draft that they desperately need. I don't mind making it a 5th rounder either.

Détails additionnels:
This is the Leafs "Kawhi Move" imo. I'm pretty sure people are going to come at me for this trade and I understand why. Mrazek is on a horrible contract and for teams to take that you have to REALLY sweeten the pot. However, Gibson hasn't posted a save % of above .910 since 2018. In fact he's averaged a .904 for the past 3 seasons. His trade value certainly isn't as high as it used to be, but he still can be an ELITE goalie on the right team. This is why I think this is the best time for the Leafs to go for him. Also, Anaheim can risk decreasing his value even further if he doesn't post good numbers next season (on what will likely be a bottom-feeding Ducks team). Anaheim have tons of cap space to take on Mrazek's contract and the 3rd round pick could be decent enough to sweeten the deal considering Anaheim don't have much leverage right now. Adding Robertson (B prospect) and a 1st MIGHT be the highest value you can get from Gibson atm, in case his value decreases another year.

So mrazek is bad for a year and a bit and he's a horrible cap dump but gibson is bad for longer, and has a massive long term deal is worth that?

And this is the leafs kawhi trade? What?

The reason I think it could be Leafs' Kawhi trade is because Kawhi had missed almost an entirety of 1.5 seasons ? I'm not fully sure on that but pre-injury he was considered a top 5-10 player in the league. Gibson (before ANA became a rebuilding team) posted ELITE numbers on a playoff contender. He clearly has a track record of performing very well when surrounded by a good team. He was arguably a top 5 and at the very least top 10 goalie in the league at that time.

I get what you're saying 100% though it's a HUGE risk to take but that's what makes it similar to the Kawhi move imo. Massive risk for potentially massive reward. There's a reason other people in this thread are saying I'm underpaying for Gibson too.

That's fair I was honestly just trying to find a team that MIGHT want Holl lol. 2 mil for 1 more year for a pretty decent 3rd pair RHD is not bad.

Yeah I had a feeling I underpaid but he's in such a weird part of his career that I really don't know how to get a read on what a good offer for him would look like. At the same time I can easily see another team who wants him making a MUCH BETTER offer than what I made lol.

Track records dont mean anything when theyve been bad for so long. Kawhi was always good, if injured. Gibson has just not been good and his contract is a massive massive risk

Yeah I see what you're saying, especially since he's a goalie. I just have no idea how we're going to solve this goalie situation though.

Well I don’t think he wants to play in Canada so doesn’t matter
