For the debate on Talbot...I compare another ex Oiler for contract....M. Smith.
So $2 AAV sounds about right.

I don't think Zadorov takes a paycut on his next cheque.
You can bring back Edmundson for $2-$3 million range if he proves himself worthy of coming back.

I wish more ACGM managers can respond just as I did.

Habs made a mistake once before, trading a top prospect Sergachev... I don't see them making that mistake twice.

Let me give you the typical Duck fan over reaction.
Reinbacher and an unprotected 1st Rd is the starter or Verbeek hangs up and blocks your number.

I disagree, sort of, with the Ducks having so little amount of talent and so much empty cap space room, I don't see them having any pressure to move a star player unless they get an offer too good to refuse.

Yep, not taking any advice or insight to creating ACGM's from a person who will not create any of his own, most likely too afraid to hear others tear it down.
You like sharing your opinion but don't want to listen to other peoples opinions.
A little sensitive guy, I guess.
Dowd would have already got traded for a 3rd Rd'er but the Caps was hoping for a 1st or 2nd.
You get what you pay for, comparing Dowd to Glendening, Glendening is about half a million less value in talent.
Thompson is career Ahl Dman, who would clear thru waivers every time.
Good day sir.

My first draft of that trade was Was 2nd and both of Bos 2nd and 3rd.... than I went searching for recent trade comparable and the closest I found was the Pageau trade.

oh...I know... just extremely hard to find trade comparable for a 30 yr old 2nd liner with 3 years left at $5 AAV, who isn't being shopped as a cash dump like VGK and Reilly Smith had been.
That's why I picked Pageau as a comparable, no way he was worth a 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but that's how it went.

I honestly think that this summer's 1st Rd pick for the Caps should be in play for a trade to acquire a young star player.
The Caps can't go full rebuild and stick Ovie with a bunch rookies. But they can't continue playing the playoff pretender role and be unprepared for Ovie's retirement.

4 more goals in 10 games, can Ovie create a new record as the most 30+ goals scored in a season record. Right now he and Gartner are tied.
Poor Ovie should own the most 50+ goals scored in a season record but covid robbed him with the cut off season.

Well Trev has made it clear, bottom 6 forward and bottom pair Dmen get $1.3 million. Too bad he didn't have this idea when he resigned Kampf. Now there's a player who would be priced right at $1.35 AAV.

A new concept on contract signings and cap hit.
Right now the Nhl takes the AAV of contracts, but allows team and players to front or back load contracts. I wonder what a rule would look like if instead contracts are based by yearly payouts. The Nhl would just need a rule were the contract can only have a 10%, either higher or lower, from the previous year.
So today's contract of a 7 year for $49 million is a straight up $7 million AAV cap hit.
But what if he could be broken down as:
Year 1=$10 or $4
2=$9 or $5
3=$8 or $6
4=$7 or $7
5=$6 or $8
6=$5 or $9
7=$4 or $10
Wouldn't Nhl owners/managers like the different cap hits. For rebuilding teams they can frontload the contracts to reach the floor and than when they're ready to compete the cap hit would be lower, or contending teams can backload contracts to stay competitive now and worry about the raises later.
Obviously a loophole would be what to do about trading of those contracts. I guess the clear solutions is that this type of contracts can only to be for NMC and will never be traded.
